I love my single action Vaquero (.45 LC), however, the hammer slips sometimes (especially if it gets damp and doing the quick draw game).  If I was ever in a gunfight and that happened, I'd be a deader.  Ok the odds of getting into a quick draw gunfight are pretty slim, but work with me here.

Have any of you done something to add texture or friction to the hammer so that a firmer thumb grip can be obtained?  I actually considered putting skate board tape on it, but that would look so lame........

Among other things, how about having the hammer checkered like the Colt Single Action, or stippled like some of the old fast-draw people did.

Of course, if you're actually fast drawing a single action, you're supposed to cock the hammer with the first joint of your thumb while it's still in the holster, not with the ball of the thumb as you draw it from the holster.

Thats why true fast draw holsters are metal lined; so the cylinder will rotate freely while the gun is still in place.

Yeah I try to just cock it with the joint, but shit happens, ya know?
