 Yes it IS a Pistol (built on a new receiver.)  Pricey , and only 6+1 capacity , but very unique.

As mentioned, Steve McQueen used one as did Chuck Conners in a show or two aside from the Rifleman, IIRC?
The guy who made some of these had quite the run around with BATFE when he first attempted to get them to classify them as a handgun, as we can well imagine................
