My mother in law gave me a pot metal POS RG industries .25acp model RG25. The thing is brand new in the original box with instructions, etc. Only has about 50 rounds through it by her when she bought it in the late 1970's. Is this thing worth even plinking with? Any interest from collectors for these types of guns? I certainly wouldn't use it for any type of CCW but I was hoping I could sell it for a buck or two to someone who may want it.

I threw three of these things, new in the box, off the end of the dock after disassembling them. My father bought them at the local Western Auto years before.

Shoot the thing! If it proves to be fun why not…

If it doesn't have any saving graces, trade it in for a new pocket knife or something.

The saying back in the 60's was, "RG" stood for "Rotten Gun".

They were true Saturday Night Specials, and quality was a joke.

However, if it shoots, and doesn't get out of time enough to start being dangerious,.... shoot it.
If you ever have a "gun buy-back" in your area, or you need some trading material you can dump it.

My Dad used to carry one in an extra handcuff case while on duty and in his back pocket off duty when he went out for quick errands, etc. (When he felt like wearing a holster, his gun was a Colt Det. Spl).

Once, we were shooting some guns while camping and I remember that RG being the biggest piece of crap, even as a little guy I thought "I don't want this one if I have to fight someone".

Just seemed to always jam.

IIRC, they sold for less than $50 back in the late '70's to early '80's.

They compare with the Raven (can't believe I had one!).

Great gun for one of those "Buyback" programs. Maybe you could get a couple of free concert tickets with it...or a free hot dog.
