Does anyone know where I can purchase a Beretta M92FS frame?

That is the "part" that requires an FFL as it is serial numbered.

Thank you Captain Obvious. I have seen that .45 cal frames are available, was just wanting to know if there were M92s available.

I figured that if I could purchase one it would have to be through a FFL. Just curious is all.

Unlike 1911s, Beretta and Taurus are the only manufacturers of that particular pistol design (unless of course the Chinese have reverse-engineered it like everything else) and they [Beretta and Taurus] have never sold anything but complete pistols.

The only way you'll get just a bare 92FS frame is to find one that has been stripped and parted out.

Thanks Jim, that's what I was looking for. So my intent of building a M92 is a pipe dream.

Oh well, on to other ideas for things to do.

Even if you did happen to find a 92 frame on the cheap, you're right back to having to get Beretta to sell you the parts.

Well, there were some 92FS 80% castings floating around a while back. In fact I just made a drill jig for an owner of one of these frames. I know of a couple guys who have finished them out, but they were more of a PT-99 design.

There should be some resellers out there of 92FS parts, like Numrich, etc. Buying the parts directly from Beretta is guaranteed to cost more than buying a gun.

I don't think that there are a great deal of these out there and I believe most are used.

I was just thinking that it was assumed the frame was an off the shelf part, like a firing pin or other part.
I also didn't know if you had a broken one and needed it replaced.
Everybody and their brother seems to make 1911 parts, including some frames...no such deal on the 92, unfortunately.
Would the next best choice be to find a beater 92, and work with that?
At least most of the parts would be included.

Pretty much just wanted to build one for the sake of doing it. I am going to turn my efforts to making a .45 now, thanks everyone for their input.
