With seven 9mm luger cartridges in the magazine when the slide is racked, the top cartridge will tip down when picked up by the slide and lodge just below the feed ramp. Starting with five cartridges in the mag this usually does not happen. The pistol is almost new and I have tried several factory original mags, an older Star mag with milled base and an aftermarket mag with the same malfunctioning. If the first cartridge feeds okay then the next six will feed okay. If I load the cartridges carefully with a mag loader this seems to help somewhat. Loading by hand usually gives problems.
