Sorry for my ignorance on this topic but why does there seem to be a joint effort to boycot Glock. I have never owned one and I don't like them. But why the boycott on Glock. I can understand boycotting S&W, but Glock? Did I miss something?
Me too I guess I'ld like to know?
They don't have a real safety but other than that defficiency (corrected with a part sold by Midway (the Dillon loader Co)) I don't see any. |
Ooooooooooooooooook. A while back on "60 Minutes", the Glock dude said Glock supported ballastic fingerprinting on a national database.
Never mind that all common logic contradicts the BF ideas. Glock said they would support it & help do R&D on it as well. IOW, Glock now supports gun control & a national firearms registery database. Yes, there was a shitstorm after that bit came out. Glock needs to learn just like the dumbasses at S&W needed to. I for one, put off buying that Model 32 that I had planned on. Glock's snooty attitude resulted from their LE contracts, IMO. |
Why shouldn't Glock support the Balistic Fingerprint?
Afterall it's another reason to raise their already overpriced prices. Hey Bob, Where you been hiding? |
Yeah, the SHTF on glocktalk when that 60 minutes episode aired. I own one glock(19) that is a good reliable gun, and I won't get rid of it. I will not buy another Glock, however.

Afterall it's another reason to raise their already overpriced prices.
$500 for a reliable and reasonably accurate gun out of the box is overpriced? I think not. A while back on "60 Minutes", the Glock dude said Glock supported ballastic fingerprinting on a national database. And Paul Januzzo, the top Glock man in the US and the one man interviewed on 60 Minutes, was subsequently fired a week later. anything above 9mm blows up. I've heard very few reports of .45 ACP Glocks Kbing. The Glock KB myth is ridiculously overplayed. It's all based on the .40 Glocks kbing when using handloads that are loaded to higher pressures than the pistol can tolerate. The .40's cases can't take the added stress given that it's already a high-pressure round. Also take in account that there are more Glock 22 and 23's in use by PD's and civilians then any other gun. The kb rate is probably not much more than any other firearm, but since there are so many pistols out there you hear of more incidents. They don't have a real safety but other than that defficiency Deficiencies are in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I prefer dao pistols. Everyone's got their preferences, and different pistols were designed to fit those various preferences. |

And he was subsequently REHIRED as a consultant. The firing was done merely to make Glock look good. |
Actually, according to a Forbes magazine article, they fired that guy for other reasons, most of which had to do with disagreeing with Gaston Glock's views on business. It had nothing to do with the ballistic fingerprinting thing. It had to do with Gaston Glock being a block head about marketing, selling, etc. That executive he fired more than double Glock's retail sales to consumers and law enforcement. He probably said what he said to cover his ass, nothing more. Gaston Glock will do whatever he has to do keep his L.E. sales, since he knows he'll still sell to consumers no matter what fingerprinting law passes. THAT'S HOW CORPORATIONS WORK FOLKS! They are not there to protect your individual rights, especially a foreign firm from f#$king socialist Austria, part of which is registered in Luxembourg to avoid taxes.
And as almost immediately hired back as a "consultant". Puh-leeze. |
What people don't seen to realize about the whole fingerprinting thing is that the BATF ADMITTIED GLOCK IS ALREADY DOING IT FOR THEM!
That's right! Apparantly, whenever Glock testfires their guns at the factory, they go ahead and scan them into a database for some BATF "pilot project." The 60 Minuites show just brought to light some of the stuff this company has been doing for a while. I have all of the sources for this info if you look at the web page mentioned in my sig line. I'll go ahead and quote the BATF stuff now: www.atf.treas.gov/press/speech/fy00/040700ggdsymposium.htm
American's for Gun Safety also referenced this is one of their articles: w3.agsfoundation.com/s_finger1.html
However, Jannuzzo denied all of this. As for the overpriced thing, there's an article somewhere about Gaston Glock getting a beating that says that it costs about $75 to build their guns. I don't know what the typical markup on a gun is, but Springfield's XD usually undercuts Glock while actually employing more parts in the design. Go figure. |

And we should go out and buy Rugers because Bill Ruger feels that there is no need for any civilian to own a handgun with a magazine capacity greater than 10 rounds.
Why would Ruger's anti-freedom policy mean that we should go buy more of his guns? |
No he wasnt fired, he resigned. Big difference. Please also notice that Glock did not come out and say that they didnt support ballistic fingerprinting or Mr. Januzzo's comments. Please also take note that on the 60 minutes segment they actually showed Glock running their ballistic fingerprinting program. That means they showed Glock employee's firing Glock firearms and taking a few spents shells from each Glock firearm and putting them into a small manila envelope marked with the serial number. So if Glock doesnt support Mr. Januzzo's comments and ballistic fingerprinting, WHY THE HELL ARE THEY BALLISTIC FINGERPRINTING THEIR FIREARMS? What Glock is doing to the gun owner is far worse than what Smith & Wesson did and they need to know that we are not happy! They will never see a penney or my money! But what the hey, its not big. It just means that if you sell your gun in a private sale or someone steels it and uses it in a crime they could come to you and make you liable. Hey whats a few years in jail? I heard they have hot meals and cable! |
Um, what exactly did S&W do?
And why do people seem to have a negative attitude towards firearms in general anyway? I've never been able to understand that. Sure, anti gun people claim that 200 or something people get killed every day by guns, but how many of them were criminals that broke into peoples houses or that tried to hurt someone and got shot by a cop? |
Okay, so do I have this right?
S&W is boycotted because they sold out the consumers of their products... Glock sold out its consumers... Ruger invented the magazine ban... Remington does its best to direct entire product lines away from private consumers... Colt gave a reach-around to the anti's with smart-gun research, and off-size pins on AR's... HK, Walther, and Sig Sauer all pay taxes to the German government which combats our efforts to defend our country... Kahr may have ties with the Moonies? What firearms can I buy without feeling guilty? |
In all seriousness, I think that the Springfield XD is the ideal guilt-free choice. Springfield is a US based company who hasn't sold us out yet, AFAIK, and Croatia, where the XD is manufacturered, was part of the "coalition of the willing." I think Kahr is also a good company. US based and has their fair share of run-ins with the antis. And of course Bushmaster is cool.

This isn't a sales pitch for Colorado, but I sure am glad I live here versus Mass., N.Y., California, etc. At least out this way -- Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, etc., we still have an "out west" way of thinking and the libs don't fair well out this way when it comes to guns. I say fuck the the Clintons, Schumer, Kennedy, Sarah Brady, Rosie O'Donnel, Fienstien, S&W, Glock, and all the other liberal suck asses. My advice to EVERYONE in here...... Go out and buy as many firearms as you possibly can! And STOCK UP on ammo too! That will be the next thing the libs will go after.
Any of the above, used. Bushmaster, Browning...... |
I've wondered about that. Are you sure? Here's my line of thinking: We want there to be a huge used market, that will drive prices down. If anyone who wants a Glock can get a nice used from for $100 less, then they might not buy a new one. So, wouldn't it help the boycott cause to not buy used ones as well? |
Wilson IMI-Eagle Cav-Arms off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more. Anyone? |
Holy Cow! Pretty soon we'll boycott all of the gun manufacturers and then, well, we'll have shot ourselves in the foot - pun intended. Then wouldn't that make us anti's in a sick and twisted sorta way playing into the hands of the libbers?
I try to support our American gun makers while trying to fight this feel-good bullshit that is forcing them to act weird and "sell out" the consumer. I admit, I, not in the too distant past, purchased a S&W handgun before I was familiar with any boycott - it has performed flawlessly for nearly a year now and I do not regret the purchase. There, I said it! I agree, let them know we are not at all satisfied with ballistic fingerprinting and selling out consumers for whatever the reason. But geez, lets not put them out of business! We would be cutting off our nose to spite our face. Sorry boycotters, but it's late, I can't sleep, and I feel like bitching about something! |
And people wonder how gun laws get passed... "We can't not vote Republican just becaused they passed a gun law! That would be cutting off our nose to spite our face!" I think that it's pretty amazing how bad someone can be scared by witnessing another person cut off their nose just to spite their face! They learn that that's someone that you don't mess with. If they're willing to SPITE THEIR OWN FACE, just imagine what they would do to YOU! (figuritvely of course; I do not support self mutilation) Seriously, do you really think that after 3 or 4 gun companies go out of business that the rest are going to go down the same path? I doubt it. Unless, of course, they did it as a form of cutting of their nose to spite their face... |

I am not definding Glock but there may be a slightly less offensive explanation for saving the cases of fired shells at the factory. Massachussetts and I think a couple of other states require a fired case to be in the box with a new pistol as part of their programs.
Glock as a manufacturer who wants to sell guns in those states (and not knowing what dealer was going to order) would just do the deed for all guns manufactured rather than segregating "Mass Legal" guns. I am just guessing but the bottom line is the same, this nonsense of bullet fingerprinting has got to stop. |
I agree, but that still doesn't explain the BATFE "pilot project" of scanning those cartridges into a database in which they were supposedly participating. |
