HK .45

Smith and Wesson M@P .45 with variations.

FNP 45.

Possible updated Glock 21? tactical G36?

Am I forgetting any?

Not new releases but the XD 45 and Glock 30 would be great to add to the list for those in the market to buy a new.45 ACP.

Are the Walther P99 and Beretta cougar .45s still being produced?

If anyone wants to put together a list with specs, pics and release dates that'd be a great addition to the handguns forum..

Funny you started this thread, A bunch of my shooting buddies got together X-mas Eve for a drink and a B.S. session (mainly to get away from the house). And the subject of the 45 ACP. making a real strong stand was a good part of the talk. Seems the 45 ACP is making it's way into new markets with all the models out at the time. We have seen there are more ladies today shooting 45's. From the old tried and true 1911's, To the new polymer guns of the day. Plus a lot of L.E. going back to 45 ACP, It's a good time to be releasing a new model 45 ACP in to the market.

Just I.M.H.O.

(Good thread)

That's cool.  The 1911 .45 will always be my favorite to shoot, build, and reload for.

You forgot the Taurus 24/7 OSS.

It was to be their SOCOM entry. Reads like a nice weapon, I like the features.

Just as long as the service stays 9mm, .45 can make all the comebacks it wants...

That 24/7 is calling my name. I wish that GLock would put together a longslide 45. A 21L like the 17L. I know you can build one but by the time you do it you are looking at the cost of two Glocks. A compensated 21 with a 6inch pipe would be awesome. CB

Damn, it doesn't look that bad, does it?  I do get a feeling by looking at it that the trigger probably sucks ass.  Maybe I'm having flashbacks of the Millinium I owned.  Now there is a pistol that will make you want to vomit.

Actually the tigger is very good.  Mine measured 4 1/4 lbs out of the box, about 1/16 in take up and no creep, crisp break.  Many of the parts are hand fitted and it's very well finished.  Not quite Kimber class (I have a Pro Carry II) but very good for a $500 gun. Beat the hell out of the SA, RIA, High Standards that I was looking at for about the same money.

I'm taking it to the range tomorrow to put 250 rnds thru it.  All the reviews that I have read from other owners say it shoots about 2.5 - 3 in groups or better at 25 yards.  The March 07 Combat Handguns has a review on it and thought it did very well, especially for the price. The list of features on the PT1911 is quite extensive, better than what my Pro Carry came with.

Look one over it you can find one, they sell fast.  I had to order one off gunbroker because none of the local dealers could keep them in stock long enough for me to buy one.

Diamondback
A 45 may not expand but it will never be smaller than .45!!

Thanks AR Doc, the thread was kinda hijacked and the first few posts kinda sucked, no offense to anyone who posted before you. I was hoping we could get together a list, with pics, specs and links to the various new models in one thread. I just didn't have time to look them all up myself and was hoping others would contribute.

I think the Hugh resurgence the .45 ACP has made is fantastic! I've always been a fan and user of the round but for a long time us 45 guys had a pretty limited choice. Now with so many new makes being introduced it's like being a kid in a candy store.

Not "brand new," but the Ruger P345... the best Ruger semi-auto I've ever owned/shot, hands down, and a great pistol value for the money IMO.  An entirely different animal from prior Ruger autos, which were very reliable but (to me) ergonomically-lacking and aesthetically unpleasing.  (Sorry, Ruger P85/90/95 fans. )

Guys don't knock the Taurus PT-1911. I just got back from shooting one, Just a few min's ago. And I am very impressed. One of my shooting buddies got one for X-mas. And i'll tell you this, There will be one in my safe not long from today. Groups where very good. We where shooting all off hand at about 15 yards, in a cold rain.

I guess this is a kind of half ass range report.

The trigger on this pistol was crisp and smooth. And with my Wilson mags it feed great with WIN. 230 gr. Ball ammo. One of the first things I would change is the Sights,And then put some good rubber grips on it.

But for less then $500.00, its a very loaded up pistol thats a Very Good buy for a entery level 1911.

I give Taurus a 7.5 out of 10 on this new pistol. Maybe with a little custom tunning by a good 1911 smith, It could be a 8-9 out of 10 For the money. It's no TRP, But its a good shooter!!!
