I stumbled upon this pistol a few days ago and I was wondering if the ports actually reduce the recoil?

In handguns of this caliber I doubt the reduction in felt recoil would be much. The only plus for ports in a handgun IMHO is reduceing muzzle flip. Keeps the front sight down. But I am opposed to porting a handgun if it is ever to be used for defensive purposes. But thast my opinion

I agree with Bob. The ports are supposed to cut recoil, but how much does a .40 have to start with. They do screw with night vision in defensive modes. Other than that, XD 40 is a sweetie. I have a Tactical and love it.
