According to the safariland "will fit" section, there were some pistols that are listed w/ one holster for both lights. Since you don't advise the weapon though, I'd just go look at the web site.

I know that the safariland 6280 that holds the Glock 17 differs for the M3 and M3X

They are not cross-compatible. The M3X is MUCH larger than the M3, therefore a hard molded holster for the M3 wil not hold an M3X. An M3X holster will fit an M3, but it will be very loose.
