It's true....read about it in the latest American Rifleman issue. I think it is gonna be pretty much a standard 1911 pistol, but the only exception is that they will be using some improved extractor.....I think. Didn't know the 1911 had an extractor problem to start with, but I am glad to see S&W in different hands and with vision. That only means good things for folks like us.

I love Kimber's original good gun-good price concept.
Colt sold us out, as did S&W and Winchester. Smith and Wesson changes hands more frequently than I change underwear, Baer and Wilson want your bucks, but Dan Wesson Firearms Gives A Shit! Do The Math! Dan Wesson POINTMAN MINOR!!! |

Ever notice you are not supposed to hand chamber a 1911 type? Magazine loading the chamber is the prescribed method, so the rim slides UNDER the extractor upon feeding, never really flexing it, as opposed to the pivoting type, which will "snap" OVER the rim when hand fed. Me being a bit behind the times and set in my ways, my favorite "all around" .45 happens to be a 645 anyway. |

Damn! That's the first time I have actually had a chance to see what they will look like. In the words of Mike Myers in Wayne's World "it will be mine.......Oh yes, it will be mine"! LOL. Nice looking pistol. Anyone know what the suggested retail price will be on these babies?

My friend told me they were really crappy lookin' so I didn't expect much. When I saw it I nearly peed myself...I want one. But I ain't gonna do it...I have had it with non-colt 1911's ( except kimber...which just ain't my style ). Soon as I can I am pickin' up another 1991A1 and that is it. Should have NEVER sold my first one.

Its going to have an external pivoting extractor too, which is outstanding. The only thing that has me worried is its supposed to have a Schwartz-type firing pin safety (ala the problematic Kimber II's).

At least post a picture of your girlfriend with the gun.  Sadly, no Dan Wessons in California. I called and spoke to them last year and they said it wasn't worth the effort. I would have picked one up. |

I PUT HANDS ON THE SMITH AND WESSON 1911, AND THE 45CAL VERSION OF THE SW99 LAST WEEK WHILE AT A TRAINING SESSION IN VEGAS. IT WAS NICE, HAD A SMITH 3RD GEN SLIDE DESIGN, WITH A SINGLE STACK MAG, THE FRAME WAS VERY MUCH LIKE A LARGE KIMBER, OR SPRINGFIELD. SAFETY WAS THE STANDARD 1911 STYLE. THE SIGHTS WHERE SIMILAR TO NOVAKS.
THE SW99 45 CAL, WAS VERY SWEET, SINGLE STACK FELT GOOD IN MY HANDS, AND WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE STANDARD SW99. THE REP SAID THE SW99 45CAL WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN QUICK ACTION VERSION IN 3-6 MONTHS. STAY LOW, AND WATCH YOUR SIX! GREEN:-) |

I held the new Dan Wesson 1911 Patriot at a fun show last weekend. Wow! It was a beauty. Fit and finish, features, I wanted one, badly. The guy had two others for sale (the one I handled was his personal weapon) earlier in the day. Sold 'em both for $550!

I do hope Dan Wesson can make a 1911 better than their revolvers. Jesus...you wanna talk about junk. I have yet to fire one that doesn't spit more lead out of the sides of the gun that the friggin' front end. Anyone ever take one apart??? What a Rube Goldberg peice of crap.

Thanks for the link. Of course now many of us in California aren't buying any more handguns due to the new licensing scheme, but oh well. I would like to pick one up but I'm out of the gun buying biz for a while now. |
