Can't go wrong with a Ruger Mark II or Mark III. Browning's Buckmark series of pistols would be another fine choice.

+1 on the rugers.  when i was shopping for a .22 for plinking i looked at the beretta neos, sw 22, browning buckmark, walther p22, ruger mkii and mkiii, and sig mosquito.  i ended up buying a mkiii because the price was right.  and the p22 felt like a little toy in my hands--and it ain't like i have big hands.  the sig was too expensive.  the others didn't feel right in my hands--grips didn't quite fit.  the sw 22 grip felt a lot like a glock to me--blocky an uncomfortable.  i have heard of a lot or problems with the p22 and the mosquito.  but of the others they are all quality so it all depends on budget and comfort.  but as far as aftermarket accessories you are probably better off with a ruger if you are interested in adding stuff to it later on.

Since your CCW gun is a revolver, are you looking for a .22 revolver for cheap practice or just a nice plinker  regardless of action?

I meant I have a CCW auto pistol I have a beretta PX4 on order and I bought a ruger 4" barreled revolver just cause, and Id rather not have a 22lr revolver every 7 shots youll haft to fumble with the micrscopic shells.

YOu can't go wrong with a Ruger MK I,II or III but I have to say they're a PITA to get back together.  The Buckmark is probably just as good but I have no personal experience.

What he said but add a Ruger 22/45 I love mine and it shoots everything I throw in it.

Even accidently loaded it with a pecan hull one time and it still shot*

* may or may not be a true statment

You will have to get an adapter to mount the red dot.  Available on the auction sites or probably at midway $30 -$35.  Remove the sight base and replace with the new rail.  takes about 2 minutes.

I just bought a couple of buckmarks and like them better than the ruger 22/45.

Easily.

Buckmark is the best .22 the cheap side of a S&W model 41, IMO.
