Besides Para Ordnance does anybody know of another well respected handgun company that makes 14-15 round 1911A1 type pistols? Thanks, Mike

Glocks with a plus 2 extension will give ~15 or 16 correct me if I'm wrong I can't remember.
My bust I missed the 1911a type at the end.

I just took my .45ACP XD out for its second range trip and had no problems at all with five different types of ammo and two were HPs. It has about 500rds through it now. The only problems were on the first range trip with Independence 230 fmj but it shot them fine the second trip. It is a nice pistol however not as accurate as my 97B CZ.

One of the range guys was trying to sell me a Kimber polymer widebody 1911 today.
Very nice.

Springfield XD, 45 14 +1, I 've had mine for about a month, and I'm pushing 1000rds through it, with out a hiccup, I have been very pleased with it.

Just curious, but why besides Para Ordnance? Para started with wide body kits and moved on up to complete guns. I have 3 and the only reason I don't have more is because I'm saving for an AR

Because Para has a well-earned rep for quality issues. No doubt they're probably better now than before, but they still have some issues; even with the LDA models I've shot.

Para Ordanance was the only one I knew of that had high capactiy .45 pistols. I heard there were a couple others but didn't know who they were. I've heard some bad things about the was they make allot of there small parts. I forget the name for it but they are supposed to be the only one who does it. Thanks for your help everyone.

STI makes some nice guns. You'll pay for it though.

Llama used to make one, the Max-II, but they are out of business and I had issues with their MiniMax and Max-I platforms.

Only part I have broken on my Para was a recoil spring guide. And I think that was due to failure of the recoil spring. Both replaced with better parts for $13 total.

I think everyone covered all the 1911-double stack makers.

In My opinion, STI and SV(Strayer-Voight) are top notch.

These things feel so good, shoot so good, and last so long, they are simply amazing.

I currently carry a older Para P12 and in the past I had a P13 and a P14...not once has any of the Paras I had let me down.

With that said, I would shy away from the newer ones with the 2 piece "Power Extractor".

I have not heard many good things about the "Power Extractor".

I would find a older Para with the standard 1911 extractor.

STI, the best widebody 1911 you can buy. Things don't break and the gun's shoot very well.
