From my understanding, the 240 will be a 220 frame with a 245 slide, making it a bit more compact for concealed carry. Dunno about the 220 SAO, but I imagine it will be 'X5-ish'?

Here is the thread at Sigforum unveiling them.

OO on Sigforum has a price list out now. $724 for the SAO and $699+ for the P240. I love Sigs and carry one for duty but it's the old W. Germany stamped slide and has never been a problem. I've owned two P220Rs and they have been nothing but problems. Sigs quality has dropped and I like the SAO but wouldn't buy one for fear of what will be wrong with it.

You are the second person I have come across who says the new 220s are problem ridden.  Anything on the Sig forums about this?

Cheers

I have yet to have a problem with my 220ST. The local Police Department is slowly phasing in the 220R's and doing away with the 229's they used to carry, and they have reported no problems.

And yes, I was at OO today and he's expecting the 220SAO's very soon. I'm dying to get to play with one! There's not supposed to be anything "X-5ish" about it. Same feel, look and holsters as the 220, but with a frame-mounted safety and SA trigger.

I'd be all over the P240 if they offered a non-DAK model.  Heck if they left the rail off I'd be even happier.

I have a P220 purchased new last year, it has been flawless.  My old W German P220 was an unreliable POS and traded for the new one.

A single action P220 does nothing for me.   I much prefer single action pistols that were designed that way from the get go.   I just dont see the point to it

Agreed.  A single stack, single action .45=1911 (IMHO).

The "point"?  The point is choice, variety, & exploration?  Do you eat the same thing every meal?  Great; 1911s (Glocks , Beretta, wha, &  wha) can defend the home: SO?  Yeah, I have the "go to" guns, I've had them for years.   Guns are fun, not just a tool: why not have fun too?

Cheers

I saw it at SHOT yesterday and will again today.  The safety is hard to engage and disengage and the gun just doesn't feel 'right'.  YMMV.  I however really do like the SIG 240 and the new SIG 556 rifle.  I even got a SIGARMS bottle of water.
