I've got and extra $450 left from Xmas......
I'd like to get a good used handgun to add to my collection..... Any suggestions? I only have $450 and don't want to save it to put toward something else...... Glock? Anything else? thanks tim |

Look at the Springfield XD pistols. Every bit as good as a Glock and even better in other ways too.
ETA: You can get them new for under your $450 asking price too. |
I like Ruger pistols. They are more comfortable in my hand than any other handgun. This is my presonal experience. I have an SP101 (.357 Mag) that I carry concealed, and I have a P97 (.45) as well. Both can be had for under $450.

+1 on the Ruger.
You can pick up a used Ruger for quite a nice price and use the rest of your $450.00 for hi cap mags and ammo. I have a P89DC that I bought from an ex Seal (legit) from my work. I never clean it and it runs like a tank. For what it is, accuracy is good. Just last week I took it out to the sandpit and hit a gas grill propane tank with every shot from 25yds as fast as I could pull the trigger. As it is a beefy gun the recoil is non existant and it does not care what you feed it. It may not be the prettiest or flashiest gun out there but it will fire EVERY time no matter what you do to it. I have put about 10,000 rounds through it without so much as a single failure. Mag failures included. Buy the Ruger, good company to deal with also. |

Springfield Mil-Spec or Springfield Armory GI.
You can get a GI brand new for 450 http://www.impactguns.com/store/706397850838.html And Milspec http://www.impactguns.com/store/706397071080.html |
-10 Buy a NIB Springfield mil-spec 1911 instead. |

Get a good Glock 9mm. You want some great prices, click on this linky. He also has many other used guns with unbeatable prices.
Used Glock 19 or a used Sig P226. Check out CDNN, they always have excellent prices.....
How about a brand New CZ for about $400 and $50 left for mags and ammo. |
Baby Eagle.. you might be able to find a new one for that price
+1 on that. you can get a new p89 or p95 for less than $375. yeah they are not too pretty but they are designed to be a good hard working military pistol. and if something does go wrong with it they are the best company to deal with. or buy a cz75. they are more comfortable but a bit more expensive. why buy a used pistol when you can buy an excellent new one instead? |
GOt to agree with most of the above. Ruger p series, ruger .357, or a cz 75.
Might check CDNN for a police trade in glock as well. TXL |

goto www.summitgunbrokers.com and then give Mark a call
Got a police surplus factory refurb Glock 17 + 2 hi-cap mags delivered for $344. Lots of other toys listed in that price range. wganz ¶ |

Look around town and on the internet, eventually you will find a "used" Glock that is practically new for some insanely low price. If glock isn't your flavor, there is always deals out there on like new, yet considered used guns, for prices that make it seem like you are robbing the seller.

Check out the sale flyers at http://www.vancesshooterssupplies.com

the ONLY thing that an XD has on a glock is the fact that it has a grip angle that allows 1911 trained shooters to transition to it easily. otherwise its trigger is even worse, the high bore axis makes muzzle flip a big problem, and the finish on them is a total joke. get a glock, you might be able to pick up a used SIG for about $450 if you look hard, or get a no frills 1911. |
Spoken like someone who has never shot one. |
odd, considering I compared one side by side with my glock 23 at the range. |

Well, you can have the Glock 23s of the world. I couldn't get rid of mine fast enough. |

so you're basically telling the guy to buy a brazillian knockoff?
You must not spend much time in the 1911 forum. |

I must have missed the part where springfield started getting their slides and frames cast by someone other than Imbel |
I meant that in the 1911 forum the SA GI is incessantly pushed as the best cheap 1911. |

STEYR M9, can still be had NEW for $300-$350.
Same Tennifer finish as Glock, a great trigger and a grip made to be held by human hands. Spend the extra $100-$150 on a holster, mags and ammo. |
The Steyr is saddled by the fact of not having any spare parts imported due to Steyr Austria selling .50 cal rifles to the Iranian Police and them now being on the US shit list for it. Steyr asked W to lift the import restrictions so that they could import rifles to US sportsmen but they refused. Otherwise, I'd have to say that was an excellent choice. wganz ¶ |

Why not a new Baby Eagle in .45 or .40, full size all steell. I have the 9mm and the .45 and they are great shooters and reliable, plus I personally like the weight of an all steel handgun. I think they still have polygonal(sp) rifling also.

The ban only affects Steyr selling to .GOV, all civvie sales are on. That's from one of Steyr's employees who posted over in SteyrClub.com www.steyrclub.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1422 Spare parts are covered here www.steyrclub.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1222 |

+1 on going the CDNN route.
They have used Sig trade ins there for that price range, and CPOs too. Or if you want something a bit different, they have Walther P99 series there and the Ruger P series and heck, alot of diff ones in that price range. Go to www.cdnninvestments.com and download their catalog. Lots of interesting stuff in there. |
