Just curious really... I have seen some NICE custom wheely guns lately, and was kinda curious how many actually still carry them vs. autos, or how many folks carry both (not necessarily at the same time, but alternate between one then the other).

I usually carry a 1911.  I have been known to carry a revolver from time to time but most of the time it is a Colt Gov model that rides on my hip.

My standard carry for selfdefense is M1911a1, for hunting GP100 SS w/6" Bbl. .357Mag.

Until they make an auto chambered in .500 S&W mag I will have to carry a revolver

Seriously, I alternate between a FEG PA63 (small, light and rust resistant, summer gun) a Browning highpower (colder weather or I get the jitters for some reason) and a Ruger Security Six (.357 Mag, rarely carry unless my journey takes me into the woods somewhere along the way)

If I could only have one handgun...I would go for a stainless .357 wheelgun of some sort.  A GP100 is a solid choice, or a S&W 686 or some Colt equivalent.

But I can have more than one handgun...

Most often a fullsize  1911 govt model.   If going someplace I want to take off my jacket I sometimes carry an SP101 .357 magnum.

My .357 snubby went and did Laundry tonight.
the SIG and the 1911 stayed home and guarded the safe.

I carry both at the same time. P220 on the hip and M60 in the pocket or opposite hip depending on the weather.

Usually an auto or two, but I have recently gone out some with my new 629 and some 44Spec loads.

+87

My preferred is the 1911 Commander, but my GP100 4" SS is a close second.

(how much do I owe in royalty fees?)

Mostly an Auto but sometimes a 2" S&W w/ pocket holster when wearing shorts during the summer.

Theres really not much point in carrying an auto that only holds 6 or 7 + 1 round when a revolver is almost a 100% reliable and always ready to shoot ....I do carry my XD sometimes ,but its 17 rounds (an obvious benefit)..

For me it is a semi-auto - be it full-size, CCW, pocket/BUG, etc. -  because I simply do not shoot most revolvers as well as I do my pistols.

The only time I really "carry" a revolver is when I handgun-hunt (a scoped .44 that is the exception to my general statement above) or when I go fishing and carry a revolver loaded with snake-shot.
