Seeing as how California is going to make it 100% more difficult starting this coming January and how we're only allowed one pistol a month... What pistols are requred to round out my battery?
I was thinking about a Browning HiPower or a CZ75 and possibly a Thompson Contender. I don't have Glocks but have a couple 9mm's (S&W and Beretta) and a Springfield .45. I don't want another "duty" pistol caliber so I'm sticking with .38, .357, 9 mm or .45 to save on making room for another 1000 rounds in a new caliber. I might find room for a .44 magnum or something bigger  . |

Well a Calico 9 mm with a 100 rd mag would be nice, BUT your in Cali.
So, get a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 Casull. |

I like the Desert Eagle and Raging Bull ideas. The Eagle would have to be the classic .44 Mag one rather than the baby ones. The Raging Bull in .454 Casul or the new .460 Ruger would be nice.

A SIG 239? A Thompson makes a lot of sense. Buy the gun now & extra barrels later. 7 shot S&W 686 ? or 8 S&W 627 ? 629 DX ? Officer size 1911 ? |

Let's see.....you need a Glock 17 or 19 (or both), you need a Sig P220, P226 or perhaps even a Sig P-229. The Browning Hi-Power is a proven winner, so you need one of those also. I also notice you don't have an H&K USP either, so you will be needing this as well....one 9mm and one .45 ACP! And when you get all of those, you might even want a S&W Model 625 in 45. Isn't collecting all of these fun (and expensive)?

Nice looking collection you have there already. I suggest you think along the lines of what you envision wanting to do with a handgun in the future and build from there.
If you might want to handgun hunt big game then a 44 Mag (or similar) would be good. If your interests are more along the lines of plinking then a good 22 revolver is hard to beat. Getting a Desert Eagle 44 just because they look cool (and they do!) might be an unwise move if you only get to shoot at indoor ranges. You get my drift... Hope I'm not spoiling anyones fun by thinking practical.... |

Get a CZ75 at least, they are cheap, and very fun to shoot.
Hell, I have one right here, 16 rounds of 125gr hollowpoints loaded, spare mag of 15 Glazer safety rounds  Great pistol Oh and Get a Dan Wesson .357 Max, that way you can change barrel lengths to what you need, and shoot 38 spl in it as well |

I've been going through the same thing. For you I would suggest a .44, some Glock, a Sig, and maybe a Vacquero. Oh yeah, and at least two more 1911s.
I still plan on getting a .44, a .357, and an HK USP.45. Maybe a PPK, CZ, and/or Highpower if time and money are present. |

Some guns I'd want to add if I were you would be:
August: S&W M-25 with a 5-6" barrel September HiPower Mark III October Springfield XD November Thompson Contender December S&W M-29 and also in December order a Winchester '94 in 44mag for January Delivery. |

you need a 480 ruger and you need a cowboy gun.
also, having a single revolver is not good. you need to get braces of all your revolvers. |

I think you neen a single action revolver to help round out your collection. May I suggest a Ruger Vaquero, stainless, 5 1/2, in .44mag.
Also, a CZ52 would be a nice "Blast" gun for your. 7.62X25, 85gr at 1750fps is kinda fun for a pistol.   |

I'll give a 2nd vote for the Raging Bull 454. I have one myself and the fun factor of having people ask what was that when you shoot it at an indoor range and they here the loud band and big flash is worth it. The Desert Eagle 50AE is another fun one to own.

Luger? Ruger Vacquero/Colt Cowboy? I think I'd take a 44 over a 454, but I think you can still shoot 45 long colt out of a 454 |

Glock 19 CZ 75 or 97 HK USP Compact in 9 or .45 Ruger Bisley-Vaquero in .357 or .44 SIG P220 or P229 (P225 if you don't wanna pony up the $$ for hi-caps) I see you have a S&W 422 set up the same way as mine, with the Redfield scope mount. How accurate is that combination? How do you like your 422? I enjoy shooting mine quite a bit, but it could stand to be a little more accurate. |

I shot a friend's Para Ordnance P14-45 LDA and I am EXTREMELY impressed. The "LDA" is Light Double Action. It is DAO, but the trigger is as light and good as a custom single action. It is in 45 ACP adn comes with 1x10-round mag and a coupon for 2 14-round mags for $99 total.
If you get this gun, please send the hicap coupons to me (or move out of CA). He said he paid $679 for the gun. I am surprised you don't have anything in .40. If you lived in the US (cf PRK), I'd recommend the Glock 35 .40 for high capacity (like 9mm) AND high impact (like .45 acp). But you don't. I can also understand trying to limit your calibers. I've got too many. Desert Eagle in .44 mag is very popular up here for hunting deer and elk (for those that do). I had one briefly and liked it, but sold it because you can't shoot lead or reduced loads. I would go for the Browning HighPower. Beautiful and classic gun and unlike the CZ, mags are readily available. Very sorry to hear about the 1 gun/month. Is it definitely going to become law? I hope there is a 2nd amendment challenge to it. That's like limiting people to 1 meal/day. Good luck. |

I picked up a Para-Ord P14-45 LDA a couple of weeks back, used, ANIB, for $429, with 1 10 and 1 14 round mag. The same shop has NIW P14 mags for $55 if you need a few. |

CZ mags are hard to come by??? CDNN has EAA Witness mags, which will work in a CZ, for $30. The price is actually down from a few years ago.
