Looking to get a 1911 and have narrowed it to a Kimber. It's very important that the gun I buy is American made(all of it). Was talking to a buddy and he said that the barrel on a Kimber was make in Germany. What's the truth????

IIRC, Colts are American made, American forgings, parts, machine work and labor.
I have read that Kimbers are also American made.

Kimbers are american made to the best of my knowledge, But let me tell you. If I had to pick another country to select a firearm part from Germany is definately in the top 3, if not number one.

But I have never heard or read anything that spoke of kimber barrels being manufactured in germany.

Kimbers are made in Yonkers, New York.  Don't know about individual parts.

Aren't the frames of one of the major 1911 manufacturers imported from overseas?

Springfield Armory uses Imbel frames on at least some of their 1911's.

ETA:  And German pistols aren't nothing to sneeze at!  Sigs and HK's in the same price range will out shoot most 1911's.  From a bone stock P220 around $600 to a Mk 23 or Sig X-5 around $2k.

US of A

even if the parts were imported, it would not be from germany or any other first world country--it would be made in some second rate country
