Get the extended mag for a full grip. For reference, the 9mm 938 recoils significantly less the the .380 84FS in a much smaller and lighter package. I tend to agree about the Berettas. Harder recoiling than you'd expect, given the size and relatively tame recoil of the 92 series. Sights not very good, either. I sold my 84 with no ragrets, although I did pick up a 86 later on just because it was cheap. I found the SIG P230/232 a softer shooter. Haven't shot the P238 but being a locked breech gun, it makes sense. I actually bought a Colt 1908 a while back but haven't shot it yet. |

I like Beretta 84 series and Sig 230/232 series for fun shooting...didn't like Walther PP/PPK series.
Last year I discovered Bersa Thunder and had a lot of fun with it. It's accurate and reliable and comfortable to shoot. I liked the Bersa so much that I purchased a 22 lr version which I've shot hundreds of rounds. Both Bersa has been perfectly reliable. |

Bersa -had one. Sold it. Regret selling it. Sure it’s almost G19 sized but it was fun to shoot.

I vastly prefer blow back pistols chambered in .32acp over the same models in .380. Recoil is less rappy, and the .32 is very accurate. It really makes unpleasant 380s like the Walther PP series a much better proposition. My Beretta 84 in 32 is a pussycat, for example.
If you like punishment in your blowback however, I would suggest the Polish P64 in 9x18. All kinds of fun.

I have a SIG P250 in .380 that is fun with a full size frame and I can convert it to the compact frame as well. I don't think they are made anymore.

Browning Black Label is the absolute softest shooting .380 I have ever fired. It's locked breech linkless tilting barrel design makes it very smooth in operation. It is incredibly easy to be both fast and accurate with it. So much so that it's almost like cheating.

I had my choice between the Steel Pony and the pocketlite and went with the latter as it was predominantly a carry gun (shoulda bought both  ). It doesn't weigh down your pocket or sag on your belt, but it is a carry gun not a shooter... so it served its purpose for almost two decades until the G42 took its spot:

My G42 is the softest shooting and. It’s accurate .380 I own. It’s also about the biggest .380 I’d actually carry.
My second best shooting .380 is a Sig P238. Both of these guns are much more accurate and fun to shoot than my LCP. If you want a “range” .380, I’d look into a Sig P230 or one of the Berettas. I’ve shot version s of each in the past. They are nice, all steel pistols that make a .380 feel pretty mild. I think the old school all-steel .380s are far too heavy for a modern .380 carry gun, so I don’t own one. But just for range use, they are fun. Now that a reload .380, if finding good gun deals ever become a thing again I’d like to pick up a Beretta 84 or 85. |

Kimber micro .380 has worked fine for me. Bi-tone is finished well and sharp looking little gat, IMHO. Not too snappy and I can get all 3 fingers on the grip.

They don't make them anymore, you'd have to find a nice used one, but the Colt Government Model 380 is a sweet little pistol.
It's my carry piece when I'm going out someplace formal.

Comparing to my old keltec (direct blow back), my newer S&W Bodyguard 380 (locked breech) is much more fun. Accurate, smooth trigger, and doesn't bite as hard.

Mac 11 if you just want to zip through that pile really quickly.
You can get a Vz 61 in .380. Far as pistols go the oft mentioned Beretta 84 is probably one of the better options. I would also put the CZ 83 in the same class as the 84. I also have a commercial Russian made hicap Makarov in .380. Very cool but not the most comfortable thing & kind of a collector these days. Picked up a S&W shield EZ in .380 maybe a year ago and it's awesome. I do kind of wish it was a double stack sometimes tho. |

I’m gonna have to go with the Shield EZ. Handles really nicely, pleasant to shoot.
I had been interested in the Browning 1911 389s, but the cost of the gun is more than it should be, and even before the panic, 380 was costly for what it is. |
