So I think I am becoming a trigger snob and would like some guidance.

Upgraded WASR-10 trigger to ALG AK-UL
AR triggers to Larue MBT, and seriously contemplating a triggertech diamond.
Ruger Blackhawk had trigger job done and now it feels wonderful and light.

Now moving on to semi-autos.  Convinced I want a single action only, but open to suggestions.

Is the Dan wesson DWX out?

How are glock aftermarket triggers?  Do any of them compare to a hammer gun in SAO?

Just want to target shoot and plink, not worried about carry or competition.

I really like my Sig P938.  It's small, and designed for carry.  But it's a great shooter, with well-managed recoil.

Sorry, but MBT is so overrated, I have 2 and I just don't get the hype. I have Mil-Spec triggers that are better. If you want a good AR trigger, I prefer Geissele. Pick your model but I prefer the SSA as it's closest to my KAC triggers

Higher end 1911/ 2011 triggers are where it's at. Anything SA/ DA outside of that is simply not as good BUT, there are some CZ's and other exceptions for sure.

I've tried almost every aftermarket Glock trigger there is and still prefer a broken in Gen 5 OEM trigger.

As long as a trigger is decent, it's really all about training.

SAO Legion 226 9mm I have was dead on 2lbs 12ounces on a 10 pull average. After a 19lb or 18lb hammer spring it was 2lbs 4ounces 10 pull average. The pistol is a keeper for me and was also made same day as my son’s birthday so it’s automatically his.

Another vote for the Sig Legion 226 sao, great shooter, crisp trigger. Would not be my choice for a concealed carry gun but great for everything else. Recommend picking up some Mec Gar 17 round mags to go with it.

Can't beat a 1911 trigger. I'd check out that Wilson Combat EDC X9. Love my Hi-Power, but the trigger sucks compared to my 1911's. The Sig P210 trigger is pretty nice though. The Beretta 92FS and Sig P226 triggers are great for DA/SA. A target SAO model Beretta or Sig or CZ are pretty nice.

My Sig X6 is my best trigger by far and in a different world than the standard Sig SAO triggers. Any of the good quality SAO guns are pretty comparable in my experience CZ, Sig, etc. 1911’s are good too and have a ton of aftermarket triggers available.

A 1911 in 9mm is a beautiful thing and one with a excellent trigger is just that much better.

9mm 1911 from Dan Wesson or Bul Armory (from my experience with several DWs and Buls, Buls have superior triggers out of the box).  Never shot the 210 or DWX (obviously), but a good 9mm 1911 will have a better trigger than either of the first two on your list.

The shittiest 1911/2011 trigger can be made better than anything else.  SIG P210 is next, IMHO. CZ (and clones) is probably next best. The Grand Power pistols are next. Browning Hi-Power is good...but had to design around the 1911 patents and has the weird slide mounted transfter bar.

If you want double stack/polymer, I'd go Grand Power.  If you don't want 1911/2011 but you want metal framed double stack, CZ or Hi-Power. If you don't mind single stack, get a P210.

Good 1911. You can have it safe at about 2 pounds and a straight pull. Higher end guns (dw/baer/brown/etc) will come right from the box. But someone that knows what they are doing can make it exquisite.

Look at SVI triggers. You can get a ton of custom options

A good 1911 is unmatched, bottom line.

Close second is a Cajun'ized Shadow or SP01 in SAO. Extremely light trigger (sub 3lb) with very short travel and zero pre-travel once it resets. It's not as crisp as a good 1911 but it's a damn good trigger.

Sig SAOs are quite nice but imo not in the same tier as the aforementioned. Striker guns won't come close to any of the SAO pistols folks have been recommending in this thread. I'm a huge fan of SAO hammer pistols with an external safety. DA/SA doesn't do much for me.

Since you said you were open to suggestions....

Beretta 92 G variant with Langdon Trigger job and optimized trigger bar.    The crispness, reset, and single action pull weight is stunning.  That is not hyperbole.

And if you go with a 13 pound hammer spring (12 if its only a range gun), the double action pull is smooth and silky.

My Legion SAO has a great trigger, but I have handled a couple that were less than impressive.

Other than smithing your own Filipino 1911, I think the best trigger you can buy for the least amount of money, an S&W M&P M2.0 with the full Apex kit.

I don’t care what aftermarket stuff you dump into a striker fired gun ( some of which can affect reliability) none will ever compare to a true SA trigger. Off the rack, 1911 is the answer. Some other suggestions such as SAO sigs and CZ’s might also be good. ( little experience with these) there is a reason almost all high performance competition pistols are built around the 1911, and it is because of the trigger

Sig P226 Legion - nice, but not as nice as the above

CZ Shadow 2 SAO - in lgs - very nice

Wilson EDC X9L - this one is also very nice, think it will be better with more rounds fired

Ed Brown KC9 - this one was very nice also

Staccato C2 - very nice.

All my 1911's are decent, usually break out the stones and make them better.

And it doesn't have a grip safety.  But it's a great trigger for a relatively inexpensive compact 1911-style gun.

For me it's not so much how "light" is the trigger pull vs. how clean/crisp is the trigger pull.

I have a CZ TS that is about 1&3/4 lbs.  Right at scary light.  I have to dry fire it a few times at the range before loading it or I will usually put a round through the paper not exactly where I wanted it.  I actually prefer a slightly heavier trigger pull.

I have a couple of CZ75's (.40 B and 9MM Compact) with trigger pulls of 3 lbs.  But they are so crisp/clean you finger and your brain will tell you the trigger pull is less.  I had to put a trigger pull ga. on both to convince myself they really were as "heavy" as 3 lbs.

CZ has stopped making the CZ75 SA (single action only CZ75B) but you might still find one new in the box somewhere.  And you might want to do some work (or have some work done) on it to get it where you want it.

Some people also get hot/heavy about how far the trigger moves rearward from it's starting point to the "wall".  Some people get hot and heavy over trigger reset characteristics and how that affects trigger pull feel for them.

How important is small groups for you?  A nice/expensive pistol with a nice trigger may be nice for some people, but I want more.  I want it to fit/feel good in my hand, I want it to be reliable, I want it to shoot small groups.  And I don't want to have to pay $1500 to get that.

I buy pistols that are not CZs.  Bought four or five of them in the last couple of years.  Always disappointed in the groups vs. the CZs.  Aftermarket barrels/triggers get some of them close to the worse shooting CZs I own, but no where near some of my stock CZs (stock as in no changes other than sights).

Good luck with the pistol you choose.  If it's not a CZ, you can always trade it in if you're not happy with it.

That is why I said for the money, an M&P M2.0 with Apex kit should be under $600.  Most 1911 pistols out of the box for under $1k will have a worse trigger.

From your list the best out of the box  choice is any of the Sig Sauer Legion series 9mm.

No experience with the CZs but I hear they are decent.

My next choice would be a tuned 1911, but this can depend on how much you would like to spend (e.g. Les Baer, Guncrafter, etc).

Do not waste money on trying to get a striker fire to act like a single action, they are their own design and act in their own unique way (I have tried many with various trigger upgrades and none have really cut it for me like a true SAO).

OP I’m a snob too with triggers.

I love my Wilson Combat 1911s  - best handgun triggers by far. I’ve got a few Striker guns with aftermarket triggers that sorta come close.

As far as the TriggerTechs for your ARs - that’s all I run almost. 6 of my ARs (in 556, 300 and 308) have TriggerTechs of various flavors. They are just on another level and I’ve had every AR trigger out there practically. The G triggers cannot come close. Only real competition to the TTs are some of the Elf triggers. I used to be standardized on the Wilson Combat TTU M2s before I got my first TriggerTech. It was all over after that.

My experience does not match. Light, maybe. Smooth and crisp? No. I don’t know if HK is capable of making a good trigger, only ones that suck a bit less.

The 1911 trigger is generally good for a couple reasons. 1) SAO, with manual and grip safeties, you can have a light trigger 2) direct rearward travel rather than a hinged trigger and 3) no firing pin safety (unless series 80).

Out of the list OP put up, I’d trust SIG to have the nicest trigger.

A custom-shop CZ75 TS or TSO will have a damn fine trigger.  A 1911 trigger can be tuned quite nicely by a good smith and will be significantly cheaper though than a custom CZ 75.

Cool thing about the CZ75 is you can find a .40s&w base gun easily, and then drop in a 9mm barrel from CZC.  Here’s my dual caliber CZ75... setup by F4E.  It’s got a better trigger than my custom and semi-custom 1911.  It’s good for shooting major PF in matches that matters or 9mm when PF doesn’t matter. I want to get a second top end made with an optic and a comp so I can shoot open, too.

Nothing quite beats a good 2011 / 1911 trigger IMO.

CZs, even the expensive ones, tend to have some rolling creep.   That's something that can usually be minimized.

My SIG X5 has a pretty good SAO trigger, as does my Beretta 92X Performance.

A few years back I tried every single 9mm trigger at SHOT show, alongside my buddy whose also a trigger snob.

The best was at a small booth in the SHOT show basement level.

It was a SIG 226, with a completely Wire EDM machined trigger, hammer, and sear. Buttery ~7lb DA trigger and crazy crisp 2lb SA trigger. Made by these guys.

http://www.bestdamngun.com/BDG-P-SERIES-COMP-DROP-IN-KIT-SST-HAMMER-p/phssl-compsh.htm

Beat out $3k 2011's and the customized CZ's. I'm not aware of anyone thats using matched, Wire EDM hammer and sear combos.

Sadly, not a SIG guy so never bought one. But that trigger was like the bacon wrapped fillet at Cattleman's steakhouse - I still think about it years later.

There’s a member with a newer gun with a threaded barrel but he said he got hooked up. I think it was left over from a big agency order or similar.

I was always surprised that they never seemed to care about threaded barrels. I still have a couple of the old Tactical 5.0’s I grabbed because they were starting to disappear. Always wanted a lightweight 4.0 threaded.

They could easily do a nice threaded barrel option. Nice little shoulder flange and bonus points for either LH threads or LH rifling with the standard threads so cans don’t back off.

I have a cz 75 compact with a bunch of cajun parts the trigger is pretty darn good have not switched it to sao or shot one of them.  Still it's not as good as as above average 1911 trigger.  My ruger gp100 with a trigger job is absolutely phenomenal in  single action but that's a bit of a different animal as it's not easy to shoot more than one shot quickly in sa. A solid 1911 9mm lightweight commander is a pretty nice overall gun  all steel if it's going to only be a target gun
