I am looking in the under $500 range, I really like the 1911 platform and was looking at the springfield ultra compact mil spec which is on gunbroker for about $480.

http://gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=4938178

has anyone had one of these guns, how are the compact springfields? I need something reliable and that will feed hollowpoints if thats possible.

the price suprised me when looking around for compact .45's it seemed they were all pretty expensive where the springfield seems reasonable.

and last question can you customize this gun, are the parts availiable?

I got one about 6 months ago, sold it about 5 months ago.I as well liked hp ammo but the feed ramp is so short it jammed at least once per clip.I was told this is common with 1911 style compact autos.

I just picked up a new Mil-Spec SA Micro Compact Sat. Ran a qick box throughit at the range and it was flawless. Shot way better than I had even expected. I love it.

Does anyone here have a Springfield Ultra-Compact chambered in 9mm?  Perhaps you're tired of it?  :-) (hint hint)

I like my 45ACP Kimber, but for some crazy reason I have to have a 9mm 1911A1 (PX9505) and Springfield seems to have one.  I'd like to know how it shoots!
