I've gotten the gun bug real bad for this... I tried to work out a trade-in deal for one yesterday but the dealer tried to make me grab my ankles so I skipped.

I think these are the damndest little things.  I like how they handle, I like the size, the trigger is nice... it is just what I want for both plinkin and carrying.  


Anyone know of any reason I shouldn't look into these?

these were put through a rigorous testing required by the Czech Nat Police.
here is the requirements and standards.
Must be able to complete the following without failure:

4000 dry firings
3000 De-cockings
Operator level disassembly 1350 times with out ware or damage to components.
Complete disassembly 150 times, this is all the way down, pins, springs etc.
100% interchangability, any number of pistols randomly selected, disassembled, parts mixed and reassembled with no failures of any kind including loss of accuracy.


Safety requirements:

Drop test
1.5 meter (4.9”) drop test, this is done 54 times with the pistol loaded (blank) and the hammer cocked. Dropping the pistol on the butt, the muzzle, back of the slide, sides of the gun, top of the slide, in essence, any angle that you could drop the gun from. This is done on concrete and 0 failures are allowed! A failure is the gun firing.

3meter drop (9.8”) 5 times with the pistol loaded (blank) and the hammer cocked, This is done on concrete and 0 failures are allowed! A failure is the gun firing.

After these tests are complete the gun must fire without service.

The factory contracted an independent lab to do additional testing on guns that previously passed the drop tests. These pistol were dropped an additional 352 times without failure.

The pistol must also complete an environmental conditions test:
This means cold, heat, dust/sand and mud.
The pistol must fire after being frozen for 24 hours at –35C (-36F).
The pistol must fire after being heated for 24 hours at 70C (126F)
The pistol must fire after being submerged in mud, sand and combinations including being stripped of oil then completing the sand and mud tests again.

Service life:
The service life requirement from the Czech police was 15,000 rounds of +P ammo!
The pistol will exceed 30,000 rounds with ball 9mm.

Reliability:
The reliability requirements for the P-01 pistol are 99.8%, that’s a .2% failure rate.
This equals 20 stoppages in 10,000 rounds or 500 “Mean Rounds Between Failure” (MRBF)
During testing, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired, this is a .05% failure rate, a MRBF rate of 2142 rounds! Over 4 time the minimum acceptable requirement.
The U.S. Army MRBF requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols with 115 grain Ball ammunition.

Almost perfect. And can be had for $389 locally. Mags are kinda hard to find is the only real flaw

I have one & like it a great deal.  It is now one of my 2 main carry guns.  My other carry is a Glock 36.  

The CZ has a great grip to it & feels very comfortable to shoot.  I work at a gun store and we dont carry any CZ's in our cases.  When I open carry at work almost every other customer asks what I am carrying.  
I unload it and let then feel it for themselves.  It is a most impressive gun.

Factor in the price & it's a great deal of a gun.  Get a P-01, you will not regret it.  FWIW, stay the hell away from the CZ-100.  It has the worst trigger I have ever had the displeasure of pulling.  

My P01 is the most comfortable pistol I have ever held. It is very accurate and reliable. It is not heavy at all. The one thing that I have a gripe with about it is the trigger pull on double action. I would recomend replacing the hammer spring with a Wolf 17lb and buy snap caps and do lots of dry fiering with it. In my opinion it is well worth the money. Even after I purchased snap caps and the spring it was under $500. I recomend it but I will be honest and say I am a CZ junkie. So far mine as eaten any ammo I put in it.

P-01 is my current carry gun. I have complete faith in it.

Are you talking about the CZ 75 SP-01 in 9mm the comes with the light rail? Where can I find One to buy.

Nope.  Two different guns.  The P-01 is the SP-01's little brother.

Which is, ironically, the same amount of times you'll need to dry fire it before the DA trigger is anything but ABSOLUTE ASS.

I liked everything about the one I had, except that trigger. I'm usually pretty forgiving, but it was truly awful. Other owners have told me they break in OK, but I didn't have the patience.

Well, the plan is to pick one of these up in October...

My favorite 9mm, by far. The trigger does get better with use, but mine wasn't all that bad when I got it. The only problems I've found are the mags are kinda expensive and the holster choices are kinda limited. I carry mine in a Don Hume JIT for a USPc 9/40 most of the time.

Mag prices dont bother me all that much because I can always snag cheapo 75 mags for plinking.

I have a CZ 75B and was looking at the P-01, but the aluminum alloy frame kind of turned me off. Maybe I'm paranoid.

The alloy frame does not bother me a bit. I have several guns with alloy frames and have never had a problem as a result of it.

Did you read the second post? The alloy frame is nothing to worry about.

What is the mag capacity of the 01 and the sp-01?

I don't know about the SP-01, but the P-01 comes with two 14 rd. mags. It'll take the 16 rd CZ 75B mags as well, but they stick out the bottom of the grip a bit. You can use the mag bases from the CZ 40P to fill the gap between the CZ 75B mags and the P-01 grip, as the 40P and the P-01 share the same frame.

My SP-01 came with two 18 round mags.  It can also use the CZ75 16 rounders.

FIST and HBE are 2 good holster sources for CZ products.

Yes, I did. And it's difficult to tell how much of that relates to frame wear.
