who doesn't get all misty eyed with single action revolvers? I mean I appreciate their importance in the evolution of the handgun & all, but I just don't get fired up for them. My hands don't fit their grips worth a damn, they're slow as hell to reload & you can forget about rapid fire shooting while using only one hand.

Anyone else?

You're not the only one. I don't get the big deal. If you're into Cowboy Action shooting, sure I can see that, but I just don't have a special place in my heart for the SAA revolvers of yesteryear.

I have had my fair share of 'em, even shot great with 'em, they just aren't practical for me.
Even more so with black powder weapons...a little too primitive for my use.

I dont have a need for one, nor would I use it for anything but playing, but I can admit, if someone offered me one of the Turnbull USFA Colt SAA copies, Id sure as hell take it:

My dad love these things. He has to have 6-8 of them in various sizes. Too bad he can't hit anything with them. LOL

They don't do a whole lot for me, there is really no emotional connection.

I do have one SA wheelgun but one's plenty.

Everytime I watch Tombstone or Open Range, I'm temporarily consumed with desire to have one. It usually passes though. I'll end up with one someday, I'm sure.

I got's me a Ruger Superblackhawk in .44mag

sure is fun to shoot water jugs at 100 yrds.

I learned to shoot pistols with a Colt Frontiersman. But, I really never did that well with it. I really don't wax poetic about it like I did the Colt Woodsman that I 'graduated' to.

My dad figured that if he let me loose in the woods with the Woodsman I'd just burn through ammo and never learn to shoot properly. He figured that having to cock the thing and reload after six shots I'd take the time to learn to aim... I think he was right. Especially with as much fun as it is to rip through a magazine with the woodsman. Never could get that satisfaction with the wheelgun.

For that matter. While I think revolvers look cool, I've never cared for shooting wheelguns. I own one now, and think about selling it all of the time...

I like the whole vintage thing. I have a Vaquero and a Model 94. I enjoy playing around with them, and can probably beat some AR shooters with my 94.

They were fun in my younger days, well about ten years ago, but I have sold both of mine, and moved on. Seemed speed draw competition was not my cup of tea?

I have a Ruger Single Six for plinking and may pick up a centerfire SA pistol one day, but it is not high on the list and not something I would use very often. Good for teaching a new shooter, though.

You ain't the only one.
I have little to no interest in SA revolvers let along
revolvers period.

I'm currently trying to talk a friend out of a .45 LC SA revolver
for his first handgun. For him, the "Mystique" of an SA revolver outweighs
that of a practical, modern defensive handgun.

My father gave me a Ruger new model super blackhawk as a gift a few months ago. It is a nice firearm and a lot of fun to shoot but I don't think I would have spent the money on one myself but beggers can't be choosers!

I love 'em. I'd have no qualms about defending myself with one in any typical social encounter. I can shoot one accurately as fast as I can a semi-auto... For six shots. At pin and plate shoots I could do as well as those with semi-autos when shooting my Blackhawk... As long as I didn't miss more than once. (Five round course of fire.)

I think shooting competition with my single actions was good for my developement as a shooter because it forced me to make every shot count.

That said, I use mine for fun and hunting... For CCW I use a 1911

I have a Ruger Single Six in .22lr. It was my first pistol, and is my only .22 pistol. The nostalgia factor was part of my motivation to get it.

I shoot very well with it, and my hand fits the grip style just fine.

I will probably get a centerfire SAA someday, but I'm more into semi-autos right now.

I have a Ruger Vaquero w/ 4 5/8" barrel in 45Colt. It's stainless with a simulated ivory handle. It is so smooth to hold, and it's very comfortable to shoot. I love it and will never get rid of it.

I've really gotten into revolvers lately, but another single action is still kind of low on my "to buy list. "

They are ok, but the one I own, a Vaquero, I have up for sale.

I would like to own a Scofield, just because it is so cool and rare.
