Initially I wanted my very first 1911 to be a Kimber, until Counterstrike and Delamarksman suggested Dan Wesson Firearms to me. I sent an e-mail to DW asking for more info and what do I get the very next morning? A phone call from Bill Jefferey, DW's Marketing and Customer Service Manager. This company will bend over backwards to make sure the customer is happy. Our first phone conversation was over an hour long and I called him twice more that same day. He answered every single damn question I could possibly come up with. After several more phone calls over the next few days I was truly convinced this company was a winner.
I decided on the
Pointman Guardian Duce with fixed sights. It has a 4.25" stainless barrel, blued slide and stainless frame with black Hogue rubber grips...very sharp.
Bill also offers custom laser engraving on the slide which I decided on. This 1911 is a tribute to the hero's of the WTC terrorist attack,
"All Gave Some, Some Gave All" is engraved on the left side of the slide and
"091101 WTC" is engraved underneath the ejection port.
Did I mention how awesome Dan Wesson's Customer Service is? Bill really was excited to get a DW Pointman in my hands ASAP! He offered me the actual pistol ,serial# DWE0260, which was tested (with very positive results, I'm sure!) for an upcoming issue of "Combat Handguns" magazine...the pictures you'll be seing in the article is MY GUN, it's a celebrity!!! It was either that or I could wait till early November for one, with a higher serial # and no "history" behind it. I took delivery of my Pointman Guardian Duce on 10/15/01 and immediately fired 50 rounds downrange. Very Sweet, Zero Problems, and obviously Waaaay more accurate than I am!
I took my new 1911 to work that evening and showed it off to my fellow police officers. They were all very impressed with the craftsmanship of the pistol, even the "gun buffs" and ex-military guys loved it and that was without firing a single round! Let's just say I might have sold a couple more Dan Wessons by showing it off.
Am I satisfied with my purchase? Hell Yeah! I will not hesitate to plug Dan Wesson Firearms new Pointman Series of 1911's to anyone looking for a top-notch .45
Their pricing totally undercuts competitors...how does DW make a profit? I don't know, but as a consumer it's a win-win situation. Also if you are a LEO, they do offer LE pricing. Check them out at
