I carry a .45 Glock 36. It is smaller in most dimensions than my S& W .38 Chief's special, accurate and I think the recoil is definitely manageable, although it does have a definite pop to it. I think any of the mini glocks are worth looking at.

You might want to look at the P225 for a small easy to conceal package. The P220 is in the same size range as the P226 and the 220 comes in .45acp. My favorite

SiG 245 would be a good choice. Small, compact and 45acp.

Look at Ultra compact 1911's
Springfield Ultracompact V-10 is my choice. Kimber Ultra eclipse For a DA look at Para 6.45 Here's my gear

a HK Tac bigger than a full size 1911? maybe bigger but on the Tac you have the big front site... SNAG CITY .02

I'd rather carry a 1911 than a 226 or full-sized USP. These things may not be quite as heavy as a 1911 but they are huge... like wearing a brick on your belt.
I'd recommend a Commander-sized 1911 with aluminum frame and 8-round mag. Slimmer and more mag capacity than the SIG P245. Maybe an Officer's -sized 1911 if the Commander's too big. |

After carrying a Sig P229 and H&K USPC I now carry a truly concealed weapon, Kimber Ultra Carry II.

I have recently bought one of the Kimber Ultra CDP series 2 - 45's. I have put about 150 rds through it with no problems! Love this gun! Of course I heard of the problems after I got the gun. The gun shop has heard of the problems also but none of the Ultra CDP's have come back with problems.
