I understand that the barrel bushing takes the wear and helps guide the barrel in a 1911 but what about in a bull barrel 1911? What part takes the wear and how is the barrel/slide stabilized and fitted?

Not sure if to use a Briley sphereical bushing or go bull barrel as I may have found a smith who can make a barrel long enough for what I need and a bull barrel may be a little much.
