A loca gunl shop has a Star Model BM for $239. The price seems right, and I've done a lot of research which tells me that the BM is a great pistol BUT if anything breaks I am SOL and left with a paperweight. So the question is should I buy it assuming I plan to shoot 100 rounds a month through it and keep it as a car gun? I'd hate to break an extractor or firing pin and not be able to sell it or use it due to not being able to find parts. I can do 50 rounds a month if need be to keep the stress off of this pistol. It felt great in the hand at the shop, but I just don't want to end up with a problem child. What say the hive?

Save some more money and get a used Glock 17 or 19.

Honestly.

The Star, while very interesting, is a collector piece, not an every day knock around kind of pistol.

Oh, and if the 1911 platform is what you really want get a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm, they are not terribly expensive as 1911s go.

If $250 ish really is your upper limit, find a CZ 82 in 9X18 to use to bang around in your vehicle.

Save your money and buy a better pistol.  Not worth it.

They aren't terrible guns, but they aren't something I would want to rely on when better options are just a few dollars more.

Thanks for the replies, pretty much answers my question. Just needed to be talked out of it, so I will pass on the Star.

That's not what a Star BM is for.

Buy a KelTec PF9. Good gun at a great price.

S&W model 10. Also a good $200-$300 shooter.

Some Taurus.....for $275, there should be something available.

At $350, S&W makes a Glock look alike.

At $350, you could get a tired looking LEO Glock 17, 22 or 21 wanting 20,000 more rounds from you.
