Might be a stupid question but I don't know too mich about RIA 1911s. I saw a RIA in the EE and I'm wondering how they compare to the Springfield 1911s? The Mil-Spec in particular.

RIA 1911's are not the quality of others.  If you know how to do some basic gunsmithing you can bring these guns up to par.

I think for a regular shooting gun it is ok. The quality is enough that it shoots just as well as some of the low end 1911s and it's a .45.

But if your going to modify it later, I think a SA mil-spec is the best thing to get.
