Is Black-t already a glossy finish, or will i be able to keep the rounds dull and the flats gloss?

Parkerizing is pretty nice... I don't have experience with any other finishes, but I do have a 1911 parkerized. It's a nice matte black finish.

I have an acid skin PH.
I can eat parkerizing down to raw metal in a week's time. I do agree that its a good general finish for handguns. The heavier the better. Contact Texas Armament Co for the best parkers out there. |

FYI...parkerizing does exactly nothing to prevent rust. What it DOES do is provide many, many small pores into which you can rub oil or other rust inhibiting compounds...my personal favorite is RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease). It will also act to somewhat hide any rust that may get started on a gun...the reason the FBI does not use it on their guns any more...but that's a different issue from a personal weapon owned by someone who takes care of his / her firearm. You must wipe down new parkerizing several days in a row...5 at least, then twice or so a week, then...once the pores are full... once a month or less will do fine. (It also cuts shine and glare...something the military prefers for obvious reasons)

The finish comes out flat or shiney depending on the metal that's chromed. If you have the entire pistol bead blasted before chroming it'll come out flat. If it has polished flats they'll be shiney but the bead blasted areas will be flat. |

I love Black-T, but it's soft. I'm actually considering having my Wilson CQB redone in either T or black chrome, because I have succeeded in making the grip safety rust through the Armor Tuff by sweating on it.

Yes Hard Chrome can be applied to carbon and stainless. Stainless actually benefits because it'll gall less. Check out Virgil Tripps company www.trippresearch.com When I had by Beretta 92 Elites slide hardchromed I also had all the other steel and the stainless barrel so the barrel would match in color.

I have tried them all. The two I have kept are Black-T and Bodycote. They are the best of their respective types.

I like the AZEX Arms parkote. It's essetially a moly coat of your color choice soaked into a parkerized finish. Derek does top grade work!

Gun-kote, once you get the hang of it, it's a dream. It has the porosity of parkerizing, is a rust inhibitor in itself and is (depending on what you get) moly or teflon based so it acts as a dry lubricant.Got it on my win.70 '06, 1911, and my car-15. Love the stuff.
