I absolutely love SiGs, as they are incredible firearms.  I'd choose the SiGPro.  I'm a fan of DA/SA pistols with decockers, which the XD doesn't have.  The SiG will feel like it was made for your hand.  I'm not a big fan of DA only guns w/out a hammer exposed.

Another vote for XD..I love the feel of the XD in my hand.  I have had no trouble with mine and it has been a great pistol.  I have heard lots of good things about sigs and I almost bought a LEO refurbished one.

The XD will run you alot less cash.  If you get the XD get the bi-tone, their "blued" finish sucks and lots of folks has rust issues.  If you can swing it, the Sig 229 is one sweet gun.

I have several steel/aluminum SIgs and love them all, but for my newest tupperware gun I chose the XD over the Sig pro for three reasons:

1. Standard rail vs proprietary rail
2. Size. Sig does not make a polymer handgun in a compact or sc size. My SA XD9 SC is tiny (6.2").
3. The ability to accept mags from other SA XDs. Sig Pro=sig pro mags only. XD9 SC also take full size XD mags.

they both shoot and point well, and were close to the same price, but the XD had the edge. Also I didn't like the decocker on the Sig Pro - wasn't like the decocker classic series. Just didn't feel right. I might still get one later though, just not as a primary CCW. I alternate the XD9 SC and a Sig P239 .40 for CCW. The XD is quite wide, and less comfortable than the P239. But I like having the double stack capacity, and I carry a 15 rounder as a spare mag.

Either one would be a good choice I went with the Sig in .40 and plan on buying the .357sig barrel conversion for it. It really comes down to what feels better in your hand.

I have both. I like them both. They both function flawlessly and feel good in the hand.

I am no help at all, am I.
