I got my xd9 4" on wednesday and had the chance to shoot it today at the range. They gave me some PMC target/range rounds and I asked them if they had anything else besides reloads. They responded that this was all they had so i used them. I shot 150 rounds and 10+ jammed. Some would jam round after round. Some would jam at the last round of the magazine. Hopefully after I switch brands this problem will go away.

I would say the issue probably layed in the ammo. I have an XD 9 3" and havent had an issue yet. I do not and will not shoot reloads... Just a rule of thumb i live by. I would say they where probably underpowered reloads that failed to cycle you action completley

sorry, i must clarify. i did not use reloads this time. i've used reloads on the ranges rental xd40, but not on this new xd9

Dude, make sure you've got a good hold on the grip saftey. They really need some kind of speed bump on those things. Hope that helps.

My XD has been 100% with every thing I have put thru it.  The jamming you are experiencing is not normal..  Send it back to Springfield and they WILL make it right.

what kind of malfuntions exactly?  I have a XD40 with over 2000 rds with no malfunctions and all sorts of ammo

I'm not too sure about the technical terms, but the rounds will jam in the chamber. looks like its caught on the feeding ramp.  a lot of times it will jam on the second to last and the last round.

could it be your mags?   If it is the last rounds it may also be from limp wristing it with more recoil attributed to less wieght from empty mag.    I would try some different ammo out before I drew any conclusions.

My friend had the same thing happen to him. After a few hundred rds or so he hasent had a hickup.
He always shoots the same winchester target ammo,Maybe a bad batch?. Go back to the range and shoot the heck out of it. Thats what I would do.  tjf76

My 4" XD9 runs like a top.

Had some problems with my 3".

Figured out pretty quick it was due to a crappy mag.

Check that first. It took me a few outings to realize what it was.

If not that, send it back to Springfield. The XD's are tough reliable guns. No reason they should be picky about ammo unless there is something else wrong.

I've put close to 3000 rds through my XD-357 4" with no problems.

my XD9 has eaten about five kinds of factory ammo without any problems. 1000+ rounds.
It doesn't care for reloads (and I tried three different guys reloads)

It is a Croatian import, just like Yugos.

J/K, but you cant expect all of them to be winners, quality control doesnt catch everything..

some ofyou have said that it may be because i am limp wristing, but if that were true, i would have FTE, not FTF problems.

I had a couple of hocky poky mags i used on my CZ75 with the same problems. I tossed them in the trash and got more genuine CZ mags that have never failed me.
Check your mags as well.

Yeah, then his post would have said.....I had to have a piece of my slide removed from my eye, today!

I have about 1000 rounds through my XD 3" and I have not had a single problem.

It really sounds like a magazine problem. Go to xdtalk.com and see what you can find. Springfield should take care of this, immediately.

Right, Glocks never Jam

On a serious note, over 2000 rounds through my xd9 sc, not one jam. Over 700 rounds through my xd40 sc, not one jam. Mis-matched mags in both, no problems ever. Call S.A.

UPDATE: well i went to the range this past weekend once again and switched from PMC to Winchester White Boxes.  Put 200 rounds through the xd9.  only had 1 jam throughout the entire boxes.  this time it was a different jam.  the round was striked by the pin but did not go off and was stuck halfway in the barrel.  other than that there were no other jams.  If this xd does not clean up its act within the next 200 rounds, i am going to send it to springfield

I would put at least 500 rounds thru the gun before blaming the gun. Some guns need a slight break-in period.

This would not be a jam. This is a squib, and is the fault of the ammunition.

Yeah.... but any gun can KB. But then again, it is funny that the term "KB" seemed to have been coined about the time Glocks became popular. Hmmm? I've also never seen or heard about any other pistol KB. I did see an H&K once with a split magazine well, but the slide was completely intact. Thats about it.
