faster to reload! I think that barrel is too short. But hey a .45 acp ball round is a 45 acp ball round sure alot better than a .38. kinda heavy though.. |

I'd pass on it, unless you don't have a snubbie in the collection.
The fact that it's .45 ACP is good though... I'd pass and buy a (another) mini-Glock. Guess the main question is, why do you want it, ie. what will it's role be? If you are looking for a carry piece, I'd pass. But from the collection stand point, if dats what chu like man... |

It's nice, but I wouldn't have a need for it - other than stuffing it in the back of the shelf in the safe.

I have a ti/Al S&W 296, 5 shot 44spl L-frame, with factory ammo it was a real handful. Not very fun to shoot, so I got a SS S&W 696, now that is fun.

Just picked up this one:
 325PD. It has a 2.75" barrel instead of the 2", weghs four ounces less, and cost about $300 less than the PC gun. Not unplesant to shoot. C'mon down to PA and you can try it out |

For a novelty, yes. But I am of the opinion that revolvers are the best carry gun from a reliability standpoint and already carry an $800 342PD in .357Mag. Eight rounds of .357 with a five round .357 backup is sweet to me! Planerench out. |

The terminal performance figures you are used to come from guns with barrels of at least 4" in length. A 2" barrel with a cylinder gap is going to lose a LOT of velocity, and a lot of performance along with it. I would not carry a revolver for defensive use that didn't have AT LEAST a 3" barrel, and more is better.

While Troy is correct about more velocity loss in the very short barrels, modern JHP's have a much broader performance envelop than older designs, and the .45 acp will not lose as much as something like a .357 mag. Personally, I think you will find the ultra-short barrel of the PC gun makes the "package" much less balanced than the 325PD shown and that you would prefer the PD model if you compared them side by side.
Of course, WTF does that have to do with just liking and wanting a particular gun??? |

45 WinMag out of a 3" barrel is an interesting experience. It does make a nice long flame, but was no worse than a 3" 44 Mag. This is a custom 3" 625 built by the S&W Performance Center. Among other things the cylinder face has been milled to accept 45 ACP full moon clips. It will chamber and safely shoot 45 LC (original caliber), 45 ACP, 45 WinMag, and 460 Rowland.  For real "flashbang" he should just get a 4" 500 Magnum. There's a discussion over on the S&W Forum site about what holster for concealed carry

I have to agree that I'd stick with the a 3" barrel and even with that you still get a healthy velocity loss. My 629LH is "laser" accurate but still has PLENTY of thump for anything you want. I think they make great pocket battleships. Now a .45acp in 3" is best taken in smaller packs than a 625 since it really loses ALOT of the thump. My CS45, I really like the little brick paver, can draw straight lines too but I would go no lower than this for ACP. Well maybe once, I do have a Model 1 belly buster in ACP that spits lead bubble gum. Now that thing will pound 2 birds with one stone out of a package no bigger than a Snickers bar, but hey, who am I to kick a kid out of the candy shop. If you really have to then go ahead.

You need welding goggles to shoot those monsters!
I guess a .44 mag would emit a larger flame than the .45WinMag due to it's slower burning powder intended for revolvers. Nonetheless, you would think it could be a simple matter for S&W to go "deeper" to get the .45 WinMag to fit, also being ACP capable, some sadist may even buy one.

It is not hard to put rounds on a 50 yard B-27 target with a snubbie, if you know what you are doing and have the skills. I know, because I've seen me do it. The .45 doesn't kick in that platform as much as you may think. Muzzle blast will be comparable to a .357, as-in, don't want to shoot it indoors w/o ear muffs.
You do have to ask yourself, 10 rounds in a Glock thirty that is lighter, cheaper, thinner, etc. why, oh, why would you want a brick sized revolver in your waist band? And lastly, the super light guns are idiotic. Sure they are light, but if you are going to carry it, you want to shoot the thing a lot to become proficient with it. You won't want to shoot a super-lite revolver much. |

I had one.. never did shoot it. But I realized it was bigger than I expected when I ordered it. I sold mine. Was really cool though having a 2" super snub. The barrel was pushed back and the cylinder was turned down a bit.

I used to have one of those. One day I decided to run six cylinders worth of ammo through it as fast as I could. Felt like my thumb was gonna come off by the last shot.
