12/13: spoke with S&W customer service.  No release date however I did get the product number and some advice.
Pick a dealer and get an order in as there has been a lot of calls AND more importantly a lot of distributor orders.
Best guess is 2 - 3 months

S&W Part Number: 209921

OP: I searched and came up with nill

Has anybody heard when the VTAC M&P 9mm will be released?  I saw it at the NRA show in Charlotte and have been waiting ever since to make the switch from my Sig 226s.

Man-O-Man, to think that people here bitch about 2 dots on the rear sight...

That thing looks like a spider's face.

Not to mention that you'll have more dots than a Christmas tree in slightly lower light when you start seeing the tritium and the FO's still have a light source.

I'm calling epic fail on the sights.

I dig that FDE finish but those sights look like crap. If they wanted suppressor ready sights, they shouldve just put on a tall blade and dovetail rear with tritium and white outline. I would like to know about that trigger.

Why the sights if there's no threaded barrel? I'd buy one if it came with a threaded barrel.

lol, 6 dots?  Im sure you could get used to it easily, but its dumb IMO.  Ill take trit with white outline for 600 please.

Fiber optics that glow in the day, tritium that glows at night.

Sounds brilliant to me, and Kyle Lamb doesn't put his name on stupid, ineffective, or gimmicky stuff.

ETA: thread needs moar pics.

I don't know if they are the Tru-Glo TFO's <Definitely sound like it> but those are what I run on my Glock 23 and they are just fantastic sights.

Anybody else think these sights are confusing?

Haha!  VTAC will need to get that James Yeager guy that explains distance shooting XS sights on youtube!

I looked at those sights for 20 sec's and got a HEADACHE.

Seriously...nice to see that a very decent pistol is evolving with different variations and options available.
I like the color scheme  of that gun...just don't care for the sights.

I don't know of the guy, but people rutinely bitch about 3 dot sights being too complicated. Add 3 more dots to that picture, and you've got a tactical Christmas tree on top of the pistol.

Heck, I'll give them a shot.   I think it's a neat innovation, but I still think it would suffer from the "rear dots too big and bright" syndrome.

I plan on gettting one of these and putting a  gold bead front and a 10-8 rear sight.

instead of that sight setup, I wonder if running a tritium tube parrallel to and under the fiberoptics would make them glow enough to see at night.  Then you'd only have 3 dots and a much lower profile.

your eyes won't focus on 6 dots.
depending on the time of day the sights will sort themselves out. The night sights are very subdued and small. Night sights suck in the daylight and fo obviously sucks at night.  Kyle wasn't interested in developing a tactical Christmas tree or gimmick. You want gimmick see XS big abortions for that.

Taller sights? Try a one handed tac reload with a  low profile rear.  The sights are obviously taller to accommodate the inserts.

If you think TFOs are a good option then I'll send you my two broken sets off my 226 - more garbage.

Great 8's?  how close do you get the dots to make the accurate 8? gimmick.

I've shot with almost all sights there are.  Give me all black with a handheld light or these - I wish Smith and Wesson would hurry the hell up.

S&W will just quote MSRP which means nothing to us.

I have a buddy that took a VTAC 1.5 handgun course and had a chance to finger fuck these.  He said that during the day the tritium dots are absolutely invisible and not obtrusive to your sight picture.

Personally, i DO think the FO three dot configuration is a bit confusing and would prefer an FO rod only in the front sight.  Hopefully IF they do choose to go with a three dot FO setup they will make the front either green or red and the rear FO tubes something subdued like yellow.

The same can be said for the tritium vials.

In a distributor catalog I saw $640 IIRC, so that would put retail around $700 or so.

Seriously? Former Delta, owner of Viking Tactics, runs a handgun and a carbine like a freaking ninja. I trust his opinion more than Costa, who for some reason seems to be this forums de-facto messiah.

I won't disagree with you on that one. "People," generally speaking, could screw up walking and chewing bubblegum at the same time

I would like a M&P9L done with overall FDE.  Don't care fore f/o sights on pistols, with the exception of Dawson's front sights.  Even then I would only use 'em on range and game guns.  Those sights are

Will S&W be doing the non-VTAC guns in overall FDE, or will those continue to be black and tans?

S&W is rolling out FDE 9mm's and .40's in FDE.

I wonder if SW could convet my regular mp9 to the vtac mp 9? I think the sights are a good idea, and love the FDE finish.
