Went to the local indoor shooting range today. I rented a XD-9mm and what a sweet gun to shoot!!!!!!! I have to admit it had a stronger kick to it than I expected but soon found it easy to manage.
Personally I am looking to buy an XD-40, but the 9mm was all they had to rent. Good enough for me since I was just looking to see how comfortable it was to shoot.
Question is what does everybody think of the pistol? Those who own one I'd love to hear your thoughts, advice.

I've got an XD9 4" bbl. service model and love it.

If you're looking at getting an XD40, I'll warn you that it's got noticably more 'snap' to it than the 9mm Luger variant. I much prefered the 9mm model.

I have the XD9 tactical 5 inch version... I absolutely love it... over 1K and not a single malfunction of any kind.

You want "snap"? Try the XD-357! Lots of oomph....but damn is it accurate!

Get the XD40. You won't regret it. I love mine more each time I take it to the range. You can also get conversion barrels for it in 9MM and esentially have two pistols. The only thing I didn't care for on mine was the trigger pull; must have been 6 or 6.5 pounds at least. A $40 trip to the gunsmith solved that problem and it's now at 4.5.

I have the conversion for 357 sig for my XD-40.

So That is 3 pistols in one. 9mm, 40, 357

In the 4" barrel model get the XD40. If you want to shoot 9mm or .357 sig you can buy another barrel and use the same gun.

If looking at the XD sub compact get 9mm. The .40 in that size is a little too snappy for me.

Try this if you have a chance. Take a XD-40 magazine and see how many 9mm rounds you can fit in it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Then load it in a XD-9 and see if it runs. You'll be pleasantly-er surprised-er. Then repeat until you're dumb, fat and happy with the results. More-er pleasantly-er surprised-er...

I have an XD 40 Tactical that is the heat. I love it. It loves 180 grn bullets more than 165s. I also have the M3X illuminator, it is my nightstand gun. Did I mention that I love this pistol?

Haha thanks guys, great advice and opinions. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the XD-40 4", and will probably get the barrel conversion, since the magazines "convientantly hold the 9mm rounds too!!!
Too bad Nebraska doesn't allow CCW. Would get the subcompact in a heartbeat

+ 1 and I would also mention that the XD40's seem more prone to having issues. So far I like mine but not more than my Glock. YMMV

I have a morer betterer XD40 that is even morerer spiffyer. I also have two HS2000s that were morer betterer the morer I shooted them.

I like the feel of the 40, I want to get some diffrent barrels now. Mine has finish problems.

Yeah... the finish could be better... Im thinking of sending mine the the Sprinfield custom shop and letting them do a hard chrome on it.

We need more than a statement. Links, pictures, something. This is the I dont know how damn many thread on XD's, and other than finish, I cant recall any "issues".

I have both.
