I'm starting to get quite a collection of Sig's that I've got both a 40 cal and a 357 Sig barrel for.  I know the 40 is cheaper to shoot, but overall, which one is a better choice for defense?  The two primary pistols I have right now are a P226 and a P239 that have both barrels.  This particular question would be for CCW carry.  I'm probably going to get a P226R for a house gun with both as well (got lots of 9mm sigs to go with them.....).  But that's a different situation.  Thanks!

i carry 40 cal S&W on duty  and  the same for off duty. I own a glock in 357 sig. It's fun to shoot, pretty snappy. One thing i looked at before i chose my round for on & off duty is recovery time between shots. I found personally i faired better with the 40 due to the lack of recoil i experienced with it. I am responsible for that bullet until it stops. Better control with follow up shots gives me more peace of mind. JMO

Unless you are looking for more penetration for some reason go with .40
