A friend has asked for recommendations for a 1911 style, compact, lightweight .45 for carry when offduty.  He currently has a Para 1245LTD.  He was looking into a Wilson KZ45 compact.  The problem is that they are back ordered for 60 days and there are no gunshops that have one in stock that he can look at.

What do you guys recommend?

Have you tried all the Wilson Combat Master Dealers in your State ?

Check with Keith Brown Sales.

Is the main problem that he can't find one to look over? Or has he already decided he wants one?

COLT DEFENDER is IMHO the best .

Or... he could take a look at my Springfield Champion in the EE.  I carried the Champion quite happily for about a year and just replaced with with the Micro-compact.  I'm not LE so deep concealment is a big issue for me.

The KZ Compact is a sweet choice 9+1 rounds, 29oz empty (37oz plugged full) and you can one-hole group the paper.

The cost is more than your nice Champion though.

Yes the problem is that he can't find one to look at and hold.  I just found a local guy that owns one and he is willing to let my friend give it a test run.

The KZ 45 would be my choice.  I have a full size Wilson CQB and it is operates flawlessly.

The new Scandium S&W commander is light as hell (28oz empty), if not a little pricy. Build quality is excelent and if it shoots anything like the full size, you'll be pleased.

Kimber Pro CDP (I prefer Series I to get away from the Schwartz safety issue, but Series II is good too).

I would get the Para Warthog.  I would love to get one.  There is no small .45, I think.www.impactguns.com/store/770752110110.html
