What do you like best?

Full frame:
Glock 21 Sig P220 HK USP Expert In that order. For a compact/CCW piece, Glock 30 or 36. |
Tough question.
I think the HK has better quality and functionability. The Sig is very good, but fits my hand better. So what parameters are you looking for in "like best?" |
I'd have to go with the H&K USP45f or USP45c for all those categorys. However, if you wanted to save a ton of money the G21 can be found for around $500 and after seeing what Steve @ ADCO has put his through I'd have no problem buying one. |
I have shot all of the above and would be happy with any of them. I voted S&W because (1) I've had my 645 for years, have always shot well with it, and have never had any problems with it, and (2) I figured I would be the only one here to vote that way.
That being said, I held the new Ruger .45 for the first time a couple of weeks ago (haven't shot one yet) and if it shoots as good as it looks & feels... |
Thanks, mike. I voted HK. |
The 220 is great but since it doesn't fit my hand I had to go HK. I think it's a tie between these two as far as the best. Capacity and controls go to the HK hands down. I can use the levers (except slide release) without changing my grip and 12 .45's is just cool.
I voted for Sig because I like that smaller .45 they make, the P245.
If I couldn't carry a 1911, but needed a .45, I would like to try the P245. |
They do? |
I'll have to get back to you on this...
I have a USP45F and just yesterday, I picked up a P220... damn that thing feels nice in my hands.. I can't wait to take 'er out and give it a go! |
HK .45F or SIG 220.
I was surprised how HK .45F handled compared to G21. After playing with my 1911 I came to realize I HATE glock's grip angle and the grip itself. HK 45F was indeed blocky but I liked the grip better than G21. Also it seemed my hand wraped more comfortably around it. Funny I used to say that I loved Glocks before I bought the Kimber. Now I'm not even going to bother look if it is not as skinny as the 1911. |
P220, I carry one 5 days a week. I do however much prefer a 1911 and wouldnt even own the sig if I could carry my Govt model at work. Too many stories of G21's having KBs. Locally Portland police have reportedly de-authorized the G21 for that reason.

I like the Glock 21 so far, but the answer to your question is H&K.
Here we go again!! |

I never think to ask the operator if they are armed when I call them ...
I do, but only to remind the operator that the P220 I picked up used in perfect shape was $1700 less. |
sorry, that was supposed to be a picture of a MK23. I fixed the pic "On May 1, 1996 the first MK23 pistols were delivered to the U.S. Special Operations Command for operational deployment, making the MK23 the first caliber .45 ACP pistol to enter U.S. military service since the venerable Government Model 1911." full article |

MK23
Assuming you don't have to conceal it ;-) 1700 less? How the hell did you get a Sig for free? I dont know anyone who has paid that much for a mk23... |
Dude that is so sweet. |
RGR that!.. Only step better is the LTT model., GotM4 has one and its sweet......udog |

I swear by the Ruger P90. I now have two in stainless. I got my second after I used my first for thousands of rounds. It has never failed me, I have nothing but praise for this gun. I carry it every day and have used it. I use gold dot hollow points in them both, but have put all makes of ammo through them at the range, even the cheap Wolf.
And the price beats a lot of other makes.....WELL DONE RUGER...I have several of there guns including rifles...I love my Mini 30 and both my 10/22's. |
Having them in the inventory and using them are two entirely different things. Just because some bureaucrat with spending authority liked them, doesn't mean "more operators" use them. |
Just being sarcasic re: you can pick up a used 220 in 95%+ shape for about $400 while a Mark23 is something like $2,100MSRP, IIRC. I know people pay below MSRP..... |
I wasn't going to go there, but that's exactly right. |
I'm surprised no one mentioned the SIG P245..I have shot one...I really like that little gun..
Ok, I'm going to buck the trend...Beretta Cougar 8045... Small enough for CC, big enough to control recoil. Rotating barrel helps soften recoil and aids in reliablity. My Cougar has been ultra reliable, not once failing due to the gun. Only failure was a a squib round that was the ammos fault, not the gun. |
The H&K IMHO is closest to the 1911 in operation and grip so if you can't go 1911, go with the closest.
OK just shoot me down in flames! |
HK USP fullsize....did the Sig thing, wasnt overly impressed.
The HK fit the bill perfectly and I love it dearly. Id trust my life to it anyday. |
That looks like a Walther P99, not a Sig or HK. |
