It feels like hot gases from the bullet firing come down through the trigger gap in the frame.
I think I have heard of a similar problem in the H&K squeeze cockers. A friend of mine thinks it is due to the shorter barrel and unburned powder. |

Never heard that for a H&K although they do get hot simply from bbl heat. I think you're correct in your theory on escaping gases. Perhaps a cotton ball would be enough to stop the gas & not interfere with the trigger area?
