I'd like to have a modern CZ in 7.62x25 (not he CZ52). Am, I alone in this quest?

I have been saying it for years. A CZ-75 chambered in 7.62x25 would be perfect. Add in some 16-18 round mags (the Tok case has 9mm case head) and we're set. It will never happen, but it would be cool.

There are pre made barrels for EAA pistols that would allow you to use 9x25 , its along the same lines as 7.62x25 but with a lot more power. You could probably use the large frame CZ and ream out a barrel to shoot 7.62 , but with the new rounds out there , why would ya?

I know of no pistol that can be converted to 7.62x25, because although the case is the same case length, 7.62x25 is actually quite a bit longer than 10mm or 9x25 because of the long round-nose bullet seated. 1911's, large frame CZ's, no pistol that I know of can fit the longer 7.62x25 in the magwell or the mags. Maybe with some clearancing and some custom longer length mags, it could work? If you have a 7.62x25 TOK round compare it side by side to .45acp or 10mm and you will see what I'm referring to. Or I can break out my micrometer to measure the lengths.

The reason I would want 7.62x25 in a modern pistol is because it is high-capacity (same case head as 9mm = 15-18 round mags), it is high velocity (can penetrate up to level 2A vest IIRC), and it is very cheap (from 7 cents a round to 15 cents), and it has a similar muzzle energy to many .357 magnums. What's not to like?

I was unaware that it was that much longer.

Have you looked in to 9x23win? this bullet can do more then most I have seen and can be fit in 45 size frame.

With higher capacity mags I would definitely buy one. There's plenty of new manufactured ammo including S&B and FNM. It would be awesome.

Sounds interesting.....I don't know much about modern CZ's. But the 7.62x25 is a VERY potent round, especially if one were to pick up old sub gun ammo and uze it in the CZ52 (bad thing to do I have heard.)

If a gun were to be made, it would have to be a new engineered pistol. As stated, the 7.62x25 is a long pistol round, longer then the 10mm. I suppose a blow back pistol could be made, but it would have to be strong. The 52's roller lock system (HK system) would be great. BUT, would there be a market?

Just got a CZ52....needs a pin, so I have yet to play..err...test it....

I found this info on another forum.
There is a recent Italian pistol, which used thte roller system.
Regrettably, I don't speak italian and cannot tell you much more, but it sure looks like the Cz-52 system (they even got a prize for it).
I don't think they have the 7.62x25mm though... 9x19, 9x21, 45ACP and 40SW from what I made out.

I would be interested as well. I have a couple of CZ-52s and I really enjoy shooting them. It would be really interesting to have a more modern CZ with a .22 reed conversion barrel. Poor man's Five Seven.

Nope... no 7.62x25

As stated above.....these are the cals:
- 9 x 19
- 9 x 21 IMI (<----- for parts of Italy that can't have the 9x19 I think...)

- .40 SW
- .45 HP (<-------- NO idea what the HP would stand for...aside from 'hollow point'

- .45 ACP

Werent there Russian and Chinese pistols produced that could be converted back and forth from 9mm to 7.62x25?

Russians were called TT33, and chinese were type 51 and 54, IIRC.

I am not familiar with the Russian or Chinese handguns, but the CZ-52 can be changed to 9mm simply by changing the barrel.

There have been some reliability and feeding issues with the 9mm conversion involving mags and extractors. Bloss' site has some commentary on this. With the availability of some quality FNM JHP in 7.62X25 from Coles at a reasonable price, the need for conversion is somewhat obviated.
That being said, a lot of those doing the conversion have been very satisfied. Just be aware that in many instances some tweaking is required and it may not be just a drop in.

I would love a modern gun in 7.62x25. A double stack would probably approach 20 rounds or more.

It would be nice to have a double stack magazine with a drop free and ambidextrious(sp?) release system. It would also make the grip thicker so I could get my finger on the trigger with out using the second joint of my trigger finger.

I do like the delayed blowback system. Does it have an accuracy advantage over a tilting barred system?

I even like the looks of the old CZ52! Maybe a retro look to a new pistol?

I would line up to buy a modern pistol in 7.62x25 and then I'd buy 2. It is a potent round for sure. I have found hollow points for my cz52 but if some modern gun makers made a pistol for it perhaps we would see some better modern ammo for it. Instead we get stuff like the .40 or .357 sig. I'm not really knocking them just the gun makers habit of coming out with new cartridges and then waiting for all the suckers to line up and fork out the cash. Give me the old military stuff any day esp. the comm block stuff. It's very cheap, very reliable and works very good.Ps in my opinion that italian gun is even more ugly than my 1954 model cZ52
