I have a Steyr M9 and there is an accessory mount on the receiver.  here is a pic:

this doesn't look like any mount I've seen before.  does anyone know what the name is (i.e. weaver, picatinnyhat

If you have a Steyr mount for the original series, consider yourself  lucky---there is not many out there. Steyr designed there own proprietary mount for the M9, M40----then before they started importing them in any number---redesigned the series, now its the M9A1 and M40A1, and part of the redesign was to use a standard mount.

I cannot view the picture from this computer, but I'm assuming the M9 in question has a rail with nothing to mount upon it.
