Anyone have their Kahr black slides/frames bead blasted after the finish has worn down?  If the black finish is not very durable, bead blasting down to the stainless steel sounds like an option instead of sending it off to be refinished.

I've not heard of anyone doing this, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Blasting inside tight spaces can be difficult but do-able.
If you try this, make SURE the gun is really stainless under the finish (contact Kahr) and make SURE the bead blaster is either a unit that's used ONLY for stainless, OR has been emptied, cleaned, and reloaded with NEW media.

Bead blasting stainless or aluminum in a blaster that's been used to blast carbon steel will blast-embed tiny particles of carbon steel into the stainless.
Later the carbon will rust, ruining the stainless surface.
I once had a customer who was wondering how the hell an aluminum frame could rust.
He'd blasted it in a garage bead blaster used for brakes and auto parts.
