I used to have a P9 and now have a PM9. The recoil on both was pretty snappy when I used hot loads. If you don't put your thumb over the slide release, your thumb may very well be pushing up on it during recoil. May take a slight adjustment in your hand positioning to correct it.

It's also possible the slide stop spring is missing or damaged.
The P9 did have problems with the slide stop spring system. Kahr will repair it for no charge. |

After reading up on the gun I found you could bend the slide stop spring
down. I did it and 400+ rnds later and no jamshisI do not even shoot my glock 22c any more |
