I don't currently have a .45 at all, but for some reason, I've been bitten by the bug again.

I've been looking at "basic" 1911s, but I probably won't carry a gun that is that heavy, if I'm honest with myself.

I've owned a Glock 36 and a Ruger P97. (Never carried the Ruger though.)

Can anybody tell me how the recoil of the XD45 compares to either of those two guns?

In my opinion, the G36 was the tamer of the two.

Never shot either of those two, but I can definitely say I LOVE the recoil compared to my USPc 40.  The recoil is "smooth" and tame, very quick to on target, MUCH better than I was with .40

My XD .45 Tac handles ACP recoil better than any other handgun I've fired.  I'm very impressed.

I have a XD 45 ACP service and a Glock 21.  Shooting them side by side the XD has less muzzle flip. I don't know if its the lower bore line or the grip angle , but the XD recoils almost straight back.

I am no Springfield Armory lover as I had new TRP that looked like it was made with a hammer and spray paint ; but this XD 45 ACP is an amazing pistol.

just got the XD45ACP yesterday, we're fix'n to find out about how it compares to the Glock 30. Range time tomorrow, will report back.

===========

I had a chance to run about 6 mags thru this gun today, and I like it!!! More than my XD40

Less recoil than the G30, point and shoot

13 + 1 rocks

After getting my own 4" XD .45 I was fortunate enough to be able to compare it side by side with a G21 and G36.   After about two boxes through each firearm, it was not long before it became the favorite of the three between my buddy and I.  After 500 rounds of UMC and plenty of Wolf, it still kept shooting without a stutter.

We kept shooting the other two from time to time to compare, and while they both are outstanding, and have a definite nich to fill, the XD appears to be a real solid workhorse of duty carry size.

Back to the recoil- my hand prefered the XD.  Recoil seemed gentler.

My XD .45ACP and my Ruger P345 are similar in my opinion. Both are very controlable.

I don't think the XD models are acp. I think the round is called .45gat.

They have a XD that takes 45 gap.  But that and the acp are different pistols.

What has been the average price everyone has been payiing for the XD-45? I looked at one the other day and they wanted $499. I really like the way it feels and if its like my buddy's XD-9 it will be a winner.
