Going to buy one of the lower end stainless Springfield 1911's- what are the technical diff's between the mil-spec and GI models?

Mil-Spec:

-high profile 3 dot sights
-angled rear cocking serrations
-lowered and flared ejection port
-some have stainless 1 piece barrel
-plastic checkered grips
-Springfield profiled frontstrap and dustcover (thicker and less curved)
-beveled mag well

GI:

-G.I. type plain black sight (very small)
-vertical Colt style rear cocking serrations
-G.I. type ejection port (higher and no flare)
-all have 2 piece Parkerized barrel
-checkered walknut grips with diamond in middle and U.S. logo, plain walnut on earlier guns
-Colt profiled frontstrap and dustcover (more pronounced curvature)
-no magazine well bevel

Also ,  the Milspecs I have seen have the NM serial # prefix with NO Brazil markings.. having said that, I tried to put a GI firing pin in my "Milspec" and found out that the firing pin hole is to small for the GI pin

Springfield has been using the 38 super firing pin for several years.

My Mil-Spec has Brazil markings.

Get a new extractor when you buy the pistol... the stock Springfield ones are garbage.  About a half dozen failures to fire within the first 150 rounds.  Since then I've had only a couple in 500 more rounds.

Everyone told me the slide release was garbage too, so I replaced mine, I took their word for it.

I have, and have seen, milspecs from Brazil.  While some probably get US frames, I don't think it is the norm.

Never tried a GI pin... interesting.

If the serial prefix is NM it will not have Brazil markings..

What's with the Brazil markings?  Are they made in Brazil?  Sorry, I'm a noob at this.

One more thing-  the mil spec stainless model-  what is the finish like, matte or shiny.  Can't really tell from the pic on the website...
