I was just loading one of my factory SA mags that is only 'sposed to hold 12 rounds and found out that I could fit 13 in it.  Am I just lucky or is this common with SA factory mags?  Will loading an extra round hurt the spring? Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Mine only hold 12 and it one helluva work out to get #11 and #12 in there. If it goes in easily, feeds normally then I guess you got lucky. Overloaded mags tend to hang up though.

It's probably not a good idea to do it on a regluar basis.  The mag spring is designed for a certain load (12) and to put a higher load on there will weaken the spring significantly faster than if you use the reccomended load.  This could lead to FTF for your last 2-3 rounds, which is a bad thing, and far outweighs any benefit of carrying one more round in the mag.
