Okay, when I first bought it, i was thinking about all the mods I could do.  But now it's growing on me.  I think I'll keep it stock.  It's b-e-a-utiful...

Anyone else think it's perfect the way it is?

(I have the green one)

I like my GI just the way it is sights and all. Not a thing on it is planned to be changed. If I want another 1911 tricked out I will have to get another 1911. I do like Irish317s project though.

The one I have now will stay as is. I am planning on buying another to "trick out", I like having some things in stock form and others completely modified. Which is the reason I went out and bought another 10/22 today.

Only thing I did to my Colt 70 Series is install some Pachmyers and a issue arched mainspring housing with the lanyard loop.  It has been serving me well since I got it in 1984!

Sights, trigger & barrel got changed on mine. Aside from that, it's the entry level park finish with the spur hammer looking 1911A1. Shoots like a Gold Cup though.

when i bought mine i too wanted to trick it out - but you know what? It was my first handgun, and after 5000+ rounds, i wouldnt change anything. I can outshoot ANY of my other guns(SIG is the only real competitor) with that gun, shitty sights and all. Now, from running it in classes i wont trust it to be 100% if it has more than 500 rounds through it without cleaning. But it doesnt get that kind of attention now that i own other pistols.

Im ordering my Ed Brown Executice Elite next month - It is going to be my tricked out one. For now my GI will stay GI.

The reason i will change my GI is for reliablility. Have a new extended ejector and new extractor installed and have the ejection port lowered. but like i said, thats just for reliability.

I like mine just the way it is, just cant run it 1000 rounds straight.

I'm with Irish on this one.

Follow thru with your first thought when you bought it. Otherwise it may haunt you. Mine kept calling me untill I got the file out. Then it started to cry. Now it just laughs and smiles all the time.

You guy's understand I'm talking about the gun, and not me, right?

I had to add an ambi safety and beavertail to mine. I don't regret any of the other mods though. She shoots and operates like a 900 dollar pistol.

I think I'm going to change the sights eventually, even though I like that it's now fairly close to the WWII design. One gunsmith that looks appealing is Precision Gunworks.

I just got one of the OD Grren WWII's.  Like many said, the sights are hard to see, and the trigger was heavy, but the gun shot everything I put in it and grouped well.  Mine was packed up a few days after purchase and shipped back to SA.  I know that sounds bad, but I intended to do that.  Its getting the full Pro package.  Hopefully i'll have it back by Christmas.  So I guess, no, I couldn't leave it alone.

later,
AJ

Only thing I did to mine is change the grips to Hogue Reproductions and swapped the extractor to a Wilson.  Other than that, I'm keeping mine stock.
