Nice choice for a first 1911. Thank god you bought something with an internal extractor! May I suggest some Wilson or Shooting Star mags, and some nice grips?

That will change in time

Especially when you start shooting from a draw every time. With the Hogues if you don't get it 100% right, you are screwed--you can't shift your grip easily.

next thing you know you'll buy some wilson #47D magazines, a wilson bulletproof slide stop, and bulletproof extractor.     Yes, those are hints

And buy some wood grips!

And sooner or later an EGW slide stop, Kart barrel, texturing on the frontstrap......

1911 addiction makes black rifle disease seem inconsequential!

BIG + 1 on the Wilson Mags. You will eliminate a lot of headaches. Great looking slab sides by the way.

Keep the grips man. My SA is getting ready to shed some wood also. I have been debating it in my mind for a few weeks and your thread just convinced me. Wood looks great but the Houges feel a lot better to me.

Actually rubber grips are fine, it's the finger grooves that will get you.   One of my 1911s wears rubber hogue grips too, no finger grooves just side panels.   I wouldnt want to cover that nice hand checkered frontstrap

If that piece has a full length guide rod ditch it for the original GI style.   Makes disassembly much easier.

I was looking into getting the same model and customizing it over time.  What did you pick yours up for, if I can ask?

It may be your first, but it will not be your last. 1911s are as bad if not worse than the EBR's. Very nice 1911 by the way, and another +1 on the magazines.

Damn nice. I have a loaded stainless with several mods that puts them all in one ragged hole. After seeing yours, now I want one parked as well.

your pictures arnt workin so i dont know what kind of grips everyone was complaining about. I know for a fact that the rubber grips with fingure grooves are not "tactically" sound. They feel nice, but the pros(the guys i have trained with atleast) are not fans and will actually change your grips in class if you have them! hahaha.

Wilson mags are nice, Chip McCormick Power Mags are as good or, IMO, better. Im a power mag guy, the follower in the wilsons is not top notch.

+1 on the gunner grips. For a presonal defense weapon there is no better grip!  Not too many people like them, but i love mine, all my 1911s wear em. I wouldnt be opposed to soft hogue rubber grips without the fingure grooves, i love hogue grips on everything else i own!

Hit us up with a range report and fix the pictures!

Congrats and good luck!
