Get a mainspring housing with the lanyard loop attached to it and replace the housing you have now with it. Smith & Alexander makes one... either flat or arched, checkered or smooth... that is sold by Brownell's.

On a budget, you can find a GI MSH from a gunshow or a surplus dealer, they should have 'em.
My older Springfield came with one, but I just let it run loose.
