I have a slightly modified Springfield Mil spec 1911, and am considering putting a pistol leash on it.  What is the best way/part to make it capable of accepting a lanyard?

Get a mainspring housing with the lanyard loop attached to it and replace the housing you have now with it. Smith & Alexander makes one... either flat or arched, checkered or smooth... that is sold by Brownell's.

Make sure to pick up after it when it poops in the park.
