The alloy framed Frontier Scout (usually known only as the Scout) was made from 1958 through 1972.
From 1970 through 1977, Colt made the .22 cal steel framed Peacemaker Scout with 4.75", 6", and 7.5" barrels. These usually came with a .22 Magnum spare cylinder.
Also discontinued in 1986 was a steel Scout Model SAA, also in steel, with a 4.75", 6", or 7" barrel.
Earlier models were color casehardened, later models were all blue.
The problem is, your question was "Did Colt make a steel framed Scout". Technically the answer is "yes", BUT, the later steel models were never really called "Scout" models . They were universally known as Peacemaker and SAA model .22's even by the factory.
These steel Colt's are VERY nice little guns with excellent Colt color casehardening, alloy grip frames, and black "rubber" Colt Eagle grips, like those used on pre-war Colt Single Actions.
The steel guns were usually fitted with Colt Accro adjustable rear sights.
These guns can still be found at gun shows, and in the on-line gun sales sites like GunsAmerica, and GunBroker.
