... of buying a new:
Smith & Wesson Model 500

I just got back from the new, huge Sportsman's Warehouse that just opened in the Valley and ordered one.

... Why? I don't know, they're just massive as Hell and pack nearly 2250 lbs of muzzle energy with the 440 grain hunting loads.

... I already have a .50AE Desert Eagle, but it doesn't even compare to the ballistics of the behemoth .

Dude!  We are so going to need a range report.  Congratulations!

Um, OK.

Don't do it!  Think of the children!

No, used too often...

Umm, OK, that serves no sporting purpose, unless, of course, you use it to hunt.

no...

Um, you'll get kicked out of even more casinos if you try to carry it concealed...  Yeah, that's the ticket, that's why you shouldn't buy it!

... LOL, I think you're talking about Wolfpack, but good observations nonetheless.

Winston_Wolf,

May God have mercy on your soul. I shot my brother's 454 Casull with 300gr slugs. I can't even imagine what 440 grains would be like!

Thor's Hammer maybe?

Oops, my bad.  You're the dude in Pulp Fiction.  There are too many wolves to keep track of here.

Admittedly green with envy...does it come with a trailer to transport it?
All I can do is await the range report, that is if you decide to pull the trigger of course.
I hope you like it.

Actually from everything I've read the recoil isnt all that bad.  Most say that its much more manageable than a .454 Cassull.

... OK, seriously now, I just bought a new Ruger SuperRedhawk .454 Casull, but I just ordered a new Smith & Wesson .500 Magnum.

... Now my dilemma is what mission do I have for the SuperRedhawk .454 Casull

... So, I've given some thought and I'm considering doing a Charter Arms Bulldog on steroids typed conversion!

... I've photoshopped a rendition for your perusal.

... What do you think? Bitchin' huh?

O.K. This all makes sense now. Wolf, you are apparently the right guy for a 500.  btw, that ruger idea looks awsome.

Winston_Wolf, is this what you had in mind?  Looks to be the same thing only polished.  It also looks like it was machined to accept moon clips allowing the use of .45ACP.

For you guys who have not seen it, this gun is massive.  It looks like a cartoon gun, it just does not seem real.

It reminds me of something Jim Carrey would have pulled out in the movie, "The Mask"

Well I was thinking the .500 in a hip holster and the SRH in a crossdraw rig. Very macho SASS type stuff. Otherwise, why do you need to choose one over the other? Use them both - just maybe not at the same time.

I have seen a short barreled SRH conversion first hand. I am not recoil sensitive. Honestly. But that just LOOKS like it will snap back right out of your hand if it's not ported. Though I would shoot it once... just for grins.

WEll, well, well. Congrats Winston. I wish you all the best. Anything you can lay next to a SRH and make it look small is ... well... just about right! WHoo hooo!

I finally got my mitts wrapped around one here in Houston. I can't wait. I will have one. I just have to decide whether to complete the Bisley .500 Linebaugh conversion before or after.

Aaaaannd, if anyone is interested, I have already found someone offering a more effective muzzle brake: http://www.bp-tec.com/

They have an interesting little video.
