I remember seeing awhile back in the revolver specs at the S&W website clearly stating that the 686 had a 8 shot cylinder now I have the cash and now it says 6 and 7 round cylinders so does it exist or was it a misprint

They do make a 8 shot model.

The Model 327 and the 327 TRR8 are two, and I think there are others.

I remember shooting a .357 with 8 rounds once.  I have no idea who the manufacturer was.

taurus makes the model 608.  it has an 8 round cylinder and is chambered for .357mag.
